Captain America and G.I. Robot

My favorite aspect of Captain America is his "never say die" attitude.  It didn't matter if he was up against overwhelming numbers, overpowered opponents, even the Cosmic Cube, he always found a way to win.  That's one aspect that the movies really got right.

  1. This is one of those covers where the art matches up flawlessly! Well done!

  2. That's why Marvel vs. DC put Cap against Batman. "I can do this all day."

    Also echoing Ivan's words.

  3. I agree, Ross. It's why the Steve Rogers incarnation of Cap was so popular for circa eighty years. He was like the last of the True Believers! Actually practicing what others just preached (re: "...liberty and justice for all").

Thank God, Grant Morrison never worked for Marvel and got hold of him!

  4. @Cary: Putting on my writer's hat here, how would you like this for a story arc: Addressing the rise of racial violence in the real-world USA as well as similar events (including the new "mutant nation") in the 616 world, Cap formally collects Sam, Bucky, Sharon, Patriot, Miss America, and a Chinese-American hero TBD to form a team called The All-Americans.

  5. I'd buy such a real-world crossover in a New Yawk minute, Bob. Especially if the "Chinese-American hero TBD" was none other than...The Green Turtle!*

  6. No crossover intended there, Cary. All the characters I mention are Marvel (Patriot and Miss America are generally associated with the Young Avengers.)

  7. Perhaps not. But, the Green Turtle has the distinction of being the only Golden Age superhero created and illustrated by an actual Asian-American!

The times being what they were, of course, the Caucasian-American-owned publishing company decided to make GT a true mystery man. He remained cape-and-cowled, at all times, throughout all his adventures in the CBI* Theater of World War II.

    *China/Burma/India.
