The Lost Issues' most famous sister act has returned! This marks the 9th appearance of The Danvers Twins on this blog.
They incurred the Wrath of Lex Luthor in STF #2925...
They faced off with an angry pet in STF #2144...
They battled The Gladiatrix in issue #1872...
They faced a stone centurion in Issue #1808...
They had more robot problems in Issue #1414
They were at odds with one another in Issue #763...
They played a trick on the world in Issue #520...
...and they were first revealed to be sisters way back in Issue #152
I agree about their history, but Do blondes really have more fun?
ReplyDeleteNext issue see Carol and Mary invite Linda to join the Marvelettes for Please Mr Postman and Your Cheating Ways.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Supergirl meet the Supreme Intelligence and Ms Marvel encounter Mister Mxyzptlk.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a cover could deal with Mr. T, his wife and the pierogies business.
ReplyDeleteAnon 8:15 AM: LOL!XD!
ReplyDeleteA bit of pondering: When this version of Kara arrived on Earth, her situation was like the TV Supergirl: she was still pre-teen, so Clark took her to Carol's parents, who proceeded to adopt her. Even though it was known that "Linda" was an adopted orphan, they were so close in age, as well as close as sisters, that they came to be known as "the Danvers Twins" just as an affectionate nickname. The pair's debut in #152 was not long after Carol got her powers, and the rest simply followed, and both Carol and Kara went on to pursue both separate solo careers and a "sister-ish" partnership.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've read the above, I think it would be a fantastic Easter egg, and nod to your work, Ross, if someone on the Supergirl TV show would refer to Kara and Alex as "the Danvers Twins" for the same reasons as I give above.
Either AIM is trying to abduct Fred and Edna for their scientific know-how. Or it's some kind of illegal conscription method being employed by A.R.G.U.S.*
ReplyDelete*Or, as I like to call them, the anti-SHIELD.
Here's a wild pairing: Odo vs. Clayface.
ReplyDeleteOr Basil "Clayface" Karlo vs. The Monster Squad (1980's Sat. AM-starring-pre-LOVEBOAT-Fred Grandy version).
ReplyDeleteP.S.---A third giant robot (see STF #1414 and #1808)?! I'm starting to wonder if the Supreme Intelligence made a deal with Brainiac.
ReplyDeleteAnon@3:42 raises a good point. It might be something to pursue in later team-ups featuring the Danvers Twins. Heck, Brainiac and the Supreme Intelligence might make for an interesting cover on their own.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. BG, let's twist your point. Take JLA #1 cover(1960s) and have Supreme Intelligence playing chess with Brainiac. The twins have to conquer the opponents that each square "house". These two are not only playing for points for creativity in defeating each other's adversaries but also the weaknesses of eah of the heroines.
ReplyDeleteThen again, for something a bit different: Lobo vs the Hulk! popcorn not included.
ReplyDeleteI usually get min microwaved by Jessica Jones' cousin Angelica. ;-)
ReplyDelete"but Do blondes really have more fun?"
ReplyDeleteBlondes have more fun, but brunettes remember it afterwards.
@Namesake: only the male ones. ;-D
ReplyDeleteI love the Danvers Sisters team up and as much as them wearing their peak 70s disco style outfits is a lovely throwback, maybe the next pairing can have them each in their full-coverage costumes in an epic titled "At Long Last... PANTS!"
