I mentioned on one of my recent #TBT posts (follow me on FB or Twitter if you aren't getting those) how much I'd love to see a live action treatment of The Creeper. That said, I fully realize that he would be one of the toughest superheroes to adapt, due to his outlandish appearance. I have no interes in some watered down version on the CW that looks like a regular gut with a yellow tie and a fuzzy red collar, If your going to adapt a character that usies craziness like The Creeper, you have to be willing to be a little crazy in your costume design!
You mean you want an actor who is 'willing' to dress crazy with lots of make-up on AND is willing to act crazy for a role??? Really? Have you looked on the internet for cos-players at conventions to see if it's been done yet?
ReplyDelete@Nighthawk & The Creeper: don't be so astounded, guys. Paper cuts can be more painful than they look!* *
ReplyDelete*Especially if some phytokinetic super-villain like Plantman squirted juice from homegrown lemons into them.
Would love a live action creeper on either legends of tomorrow or supergirl or even superman and Lois within the next year or 2

Agreed about the Creeper. But I really want to see the Defenders as the group should really be presented...with Nighthawk among the members!
ReplyDeleteforget Nighthawk & The Creeper. Where's LSH's Blok and Wolverine?
ReplyDeleteNice one but you should go full out. How about the Rock and Sgt. Rock?
DeleteBig Creeper fan here. Would love to see him teamed with Captain America on STF. Not an obvious pairing, I admit. But when you think about it their origins aren't that dissimilar. Both got their abilities from a serum whose creator was immediately killed.
ReplyDeleteWhile Creeper would arguably be most at home (among Arrowverse shows) on Legends of Tomorrow, I think he'd work well on an episode of Batwoman, just for the massive contrast from the title character.
ReplyDeleteEither way, should he show up, I agree regarding the costuming ethic. Cover the actor with yellow body paint; yellow spandex and a domino mask just won't cut it.
Great cover. The Creeper is great. I also have fond memories of Nighthawk from The Defenders and his appearance in Marvel Team-Up. Definitely an underrated character.
ReplyDeleteAs for your cover ...
ReplyDeleteI remember that villain, although I can't remember his name. (I was a kid, it was back in the '70's.) I remember it because it impressed me with the villain's origin - the subconscious manifestation of a man's bigotry, realizing itself through psychic origami. (Lardy, the Silver Age got funky sometimes.)
As for superheroes on TV, I think Nighthawk has a lot of potential for a series, considering his whole history is character development.
The Creeper, OTOH, has been basically the same since his debut. There's no real room for evolution and development. He's a supporting character, lacking the legs to carry a long-term series in any medium.
@Emsley Wyatt: by that same token, the Creeper could also be teamed up with Iron Man! Given that the latter's gray prototype armor was co-invented by Professor Yinsen (who, when I was an elementary school kid, I often confused with Prof. Yatz).
ReplyDeleteAbove anonymous, I don’t remember the paper creature hav8ng a name, but I do remember that the story was written by the great Alan Brennert, who also wrote the brilliant "To Kill a Legend".
ReplyDeleteYep in the Brave & the Bold. One of the few issues Not done by Bob Haney!
Delete@Anonymous849: I think he was called "The Origami Man." but, I'm not 100% certain.
ReplyDelete@Anon1230: Comic Vine confirms it. "He" was called the Origami Man.
