I'd love to see Kamandi adapted as either an animated series or a CGI animated movie. I think that Jack Kirby's incredible designs and over the top imagination created a world that would lend itself very well to either format. We may be there effects wise to attempt a live action version, but I think that would be a lot harder to pull off successfully.
Wouldn't that almost be like Land of the Lost?
ReplyDeleteKamandi as CGI movie (animation just doesn't do it for me). But better still, a DC universe series.
ReplyDeleteLove King Kirby's work. And I really like this cover. The combo is just a great fit. I'd love to open this and read the full story. The Surfer in Kamandi World...
Once again, for me, the best animated version of the Silver Surfer was the one who aided the FF against Galactus on a certain Saturday morning way back in the Sixties. With special guest-voice Paul Frees as the Watcher!
ReplyDeleteIf the art style mimicked Kirby's as closely as possible, I think an animated series on DC Universe would be just the thing.
ReplyDeleteKamandi and Kazar seem a natural team-up.
ReplyDelete@Bob Greenwade: I read on-line, yesterday, that TimeWarner might be phasing out the DCU website. Based on the fact that STARGIRL won't be telecast there anymore! Strictly CW, from now on.
ReplyDeleteUnless HBO Max is going to have access to the digital comics, I wouldn't believe it until/unless DC reports it directly.
DeleteIn the comics, Monsteroso was like a child in behavior, and was sedated, after which he was finally rescued by his (alien) parents and left Earth.
ReplyDeleteKamandi being native to the FUTURE reminds me of this idea for a crossover (for August 23); the story being where Aku aids Dyle Twister's time-travel research, for his OWN purposes, but finds Dyle not loyal enough, and enlists nephew Gregory as Dyle's replacement, whereby Gregory kills his uncle and hijacks the time-travel technology (along with other inventions of the professor's), and starts his career as Chaos Lad, and later Madame Chaos.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:21: I meant August 21 (for the release date of the upcoming Samurai Jack game).
ReplyDelete@Anon1052: wasn't that later rehashed for the Spidey/Ka-Zar team-up against Kraven and Gog?
ReplyDelete"D" was in Brave &Bold right? was he in any other animated? I know he teamed with Namor & Hulk, but how bout Hulk alone? He might treat Banner like Rick Jones did.
ReplyDeleteOr use the board when "Surf's Up"
@Anon@9:51: I've been hearing reports about that for a while, and it's supported by all the new DC-related shows being slated for HBO Max (I think Titans, Doom Patrol, and a couple of the animated shows are still getting new seasons on DCU). I'll wait for an actual announcement, though, before I call it fact.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter (if politically incorrect) note; it looks like Norrin Radd is listening to the ground, Old Western Native American-style!
ReplyDelete"Alien monster child come this way, Chemo-Subby."
that wasn't gold but it was Silver!
ReplyDeleteI still believe a Kamandi-Ka-Zar team-up is a natural....
ReplyDeletestill believe a Kamandi-Ka-Zar team-up is a natural....
ReplyDeleteAarrggh! ! you're too late. It was back in 1858 that those two were paired.
@Horsefeathers and Anon232: if Kamandi had teamed up with the Golden Surfer, would it have been in 1849?
ReplyDelete;-D
@Caryc., with 5 billion years to choose from this Elder of the universe had tons to choose from. But he'd be a great Runner to do it with.

ReplyDelete"Arguable!" decided the Contemplator.
ReplyDeleteSort of like what ultimately happened to Bill Cosby?
ReplyDelete@Anon: Oooh! Cheap shot. :-(
