I think that everyone pretty much figures that The Thing will be realized with CGI motion capture when he comes to the MCU. The next question is which artist's version will be used as a model when creating his look? Will the computer artists go with the classic Jack Kirby look, or perhaps an interpretation by George Perez, John Byrne or Ron Wilson? Any one of those would work for me.
The Thing first met Man-Bat on a cover back in my MTIO: The Lost Issues days...
Neal Adams had a lot of fun with Man-Bat back then. This cover style would have been interesting in the 1970's because of the night backdrop. You could do a follow-up with Bruce Banner and Dr Curt Conners teaming up against a different pair.

What I hope to hear (as opposed to see) in an MCU FF film is someone who can come as close as possible to Paul Frees' rendition of "It's clobberin' time!"
ReplyDeleteYeah, using p-cap for Ben is pretty much a given. Michael Chiklis insisted on wearing a suit because CGI wasn't particularly good at the time, but we've been seeing how much it's improved with the Hulk, Thanos, and various others that it won't be much of a concern these days. There may still be benefits for doing his look as practical makeup, but I'm pretty sure p-cap will rule the day just to give Ben a bit of extra size.
ReplyDeleteAs for his look, I predict that it will draw most heavily on the most recent artistic renditions in the comics, though with Kirby's original as the basic blueprint.
Regarding the story here, I think that, in the end, Ben's kinder nature will win out and he'll either let Kirk have the serum, or they'll both find some third party to give it to (such as Curt Conners).
@Cary: It'll also need to sound like a natural exclamation, which can depend as much on the writer and director as on the actor. Witness Kelsey Grammar's fine delivery of "Oh, my stars and garters!"
Well, when it comes to great delivery of lines, I think the ratio is more like 49% writer and director; 51% actor. Or, to put it another way? Screenplay dialogue is like artificial insemination. The writer might be the sperm donor and the director might be the one who does the inseminating, itself. But, it's the actor who gives birth to the verbal brainchild!

ReplyDeleteBatman 66 met UNCLE and the non-marvel Avengers among others but having a spy con could be right up there. Wayne tech has new tech to display and everyone comes for the cheese. Let the con games bring everyone even Diana Prince, Clark Kent and Tony Stark.
