Barbarella & the Space-Time Five

I thought it might be cool to see a team of swashbuckling cosmic adventurers, since that is a concept that goes back even farther than the superhero.  Most of these guys are used to being in charge and making their own rules, so it might be an adjustment for them to join forces - but I'm betting that team leader Barbarella would keep them all in line.

  1. That's a good group! Could use a Green Lantern or two.

Far cry from the days when Wonder Woman would join a group and become their secretary. But you'd use a full word balloon every time someone would use a space radio to contact someone else. "This is Adam Strange of the Barbarella & the Space time 5. Come in please.".. "Barbarella's Space Boys (band)" at least is faster to say.

  4. I don't think I'd add to or subtract from this roster a single person; it's perfect in that regard. The name does kind of scream "early 70s garage rock band," though.

I don't think we've had a grand team-up of the great pulp-era heroes yet, though: Doc Savage, the Phantom, the Shadow, the Green Hornet, etc. These are the guys who, in one way or another, inspired the creation of Superman, Batman, and those that followed. Most of the individuals have met at one time or another, but I don't recall ever seeing a team of them here, and I think it's long overdue.

  5. I can't wait to see the comic-relief episode where everybody has switch guns and nobody can hit a thing.

  6. I would think about a couple other members. Tommy Tomorrow, Space Ranger, Dan Dare, maybe the Star Rovers or any of the plethora of DC 50s space heroes, Rocket Raccoon, one or two of the Starjammers (Corsair and Hepzibah would be cool!)

This is a great idea - especially considering that none of them have super powers. Just Galactic Guns 'n' Guts!

  7. The way Barbarella looks in the cover, maybe Barbarella could team up with Red Sonja.

  8. Gotta disagree with Los Thunderlads, a Green Lantern or any powered characters would be out of place in this line-up
Love this scenario and for a touch of comedy would love to see them rejecting Spaceman Spiff

  9. Truly cool!

Second the suggestion of Tommy Tomorrow,S Ranger - and most of all British icon Dan Dare.

Barbarella and Red Sonia? Yes!! Maybe throw in Xena and Vampirella and a few others to make a Dangerous/Deadly Damsels squad.

  10. I wonder how Barbarella would do against "Flesh" Gordon? ;-)

Or The Deadly Damsels Team. Nothing like getting rid of problems like D.D.T.

  13. Maybe have Chris Pratt's Star-Lord get stuck with Duck Dodgers, Link Hogthrob and Buzz Lightyear as they go up against Marvin the Martian and Stitch?

  14. Oh man now I want to see Buzz Lightyear and Spaceman Spiff :D

  15. I like Star Wars but Han doesn't really belong here. Just call it the Space - Time Five. It works very nicely. Guest stars can always make visits, be it Han or Tommy Tomorrow or even the Space Museum.

  16. How about Luthor and a mind-controlled ALF vs. Streaky the Silver Age Supercat?

  17. @Jay Johnson: sounds a lot like the original "A-Team" series.
