Mogo and Godzilla

I'm hoping the upcoming Green Lantern Corps series on HBO Max will really explore some of the more unique members of the GLC.  My favorite, Chaselon, tops the list, but I'd also like to see Mogo, Xax, Medphyll and even F-Sharp Bell make appearances.  They are interesting characters in their own right and there's plenty of possibility for fun interaction with the human GL's as well.

This is only Part One of a Three-Part Epic - so make sure you come back tomorrow for the next exciting chapter!

  1. Mogo inspires a crossover cover with Richie Rich and Galactus battling the planet-sized (at least) aliens from the Richie Rich story "The Planet Collectors"; BTW, the aliens look a lot like the ogres in Casper the Friendly Ghost's Enchanted Forest.

I want to see Galactus use Mogo as a bowling ball.

  3. Just seeing this pair of names brings to mind the very question you put on the cover, Ross. It's one of those "Huh?" things that make for an intriguing cover. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next two covers, to see how this plays out!

I've said this before, but I do rather wish that Disney and Warner would go ahead and make this an actual bimonthly comic, and hire you as editor, with free reign to use any characters or settings from any universe owned by either company. They'd probably insist that the universes be treated as separate, and some common device be used to connect them (such as Access), but it might be a good way for both companies to cross-promote, using one's bigger properties to boost the other's smaller ones and vice versa.

What would they be most likely asking for right now? I suspect they'd want things like Batman and the Eternals, the Mandalorian and the Green Lantern Corps, the Muppets and the Legends of Tomorrow (not the first time the latter have done things with puppets), or Bugs Bunny with the Vision and the Scarlet Witch.

Me, I'd just want to see the interactions between the Tiny Toons and the Muppet Babies -- or something that I've actually requested for this blog: Spider-Ham and Captain Carrot (probably done as a direct parody of the classic Superman/Spider-Man team-up).

  4. You know, I could see Godzilla as a Red Lantern. On another note, I could also see Apocalypse wanting Godzilla as one of his horsemen. I wonder if Mogo wants to use Godzilla to fight a sun eater (from the Legion of Super-Heroes).
Also, my favorite Lanterns would include Ch'p and the younger version of Arisa along with the ones already mentioned.

  5. "F-Sharp Bell"? You mean Rot Lop Fan?

Also, while I'm correcting folks: Anonymous1041 I believe you mean Arisia.

  6. Suppose Mogo wanted to loan Chaselon, the giant sentient diamond (with robotic limbs and a mohawk) to new ally Ego - to watch Ego's back from some kind of upcoming major attack they were expecting? How might that cover look?

  7. I've always preferred the look of their Filmation-animated versions (yes, high chairs and all) from the 1967 debut of GL on "The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure." With Gerald Mohr as Hal Jordan and Paul Frees as Evil Star!

As to why Mogo would need Godzilla's help? I'll take three guesses...as in the three-headed monster known as Ghidorah! And considering how he was said to have destroyed the original Martian civilization (in his 1964 Toho debut), why not someday pit against Jonn Jonzz, Ross? That way, you could entitle it...

    "Martian Monster Hunter!"

  8. If they had to deal with the Khunds, then does the next issue have the Legion of Super-Heroes as the guest stars?

  9. Sorry, Ord. But, I can see Godzilla as a GL vs. Destoroyah as a Red Lantern. Or maybe even Groot...as a Biollantern!
