The Black Widow trailer seemed interesting, teasing a much more scaled down and personal story in comparison to the bombast of Avengers: Endgame. It will be cool to get some back story on Natasha and he personal demons. Maybe we will learn why she doesn't have even a hint of a Russian Accent, that always bothered me. I can't wait to see The Taskmaster in action, he's always men a favorite Marvel Villain.
It was hinted, in certain Wolverine stories of the late Eigthies/early Nineties, that Daredevil's Black Widow might actually be the _historical_ Anastasia Romanova! Perhaps, with a mutant healing factor that even prevented aging (similar to Logan's).
ReplyDeleteIt does look good overall I just happen to have two minor nitpicks about it though:
ReplyDeleteThe Guardian, based off the trailer anyways, seems to be treated more as a joke here, as he's portrayed as a retired, past his prime fighter.
Second I HATE Taskmaster's MCU look already. Is it really that hard to adapt his look for the screen and NOT make it look like a silly-ass 90's biker helmet????
Again other than that, the movie looks really good.
Names being inherited is one thing, but names used to prevent the name to be used by a different co.?
ReplyDeleteDifferent Creepers, including the one decades earlier in Europe. Nope.
Hulk was cancelled. X-Men were cancelled. Creeper hit part of his audience, just like the Shadow did. Green Arrow was cancelled how many times while they started and maintained a tv series for him. Jack Ryder has been shown time to time. The original Creeper should be also.
Clark Kent is being eliminated AGAIN, just like the rebirth when Lois revealed who he was to help him. Didn't work for anyone except to make Mr. Mxyzptlk a hero for a while. Wonder if his name will get recycled?
Presumably the reason why Black Widow doesn't have a Russian accent is that her training as an undercover operative included a deliberate effort to remove that give-away...
ReplyDeleteS.H.I.E.L.D. wants The Creeper? Not surprising. Fury's the type to take an insurance Rider.
ReplyDeletewhere did this line come from?
Simreeve nailed it. Even in the real world, Soviet spies were trained in English that intensively for just that reason.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that bothers me about Taskmaster is that, as far as we've seen, he doesn't have a copy of Cap's shield. I know he's used one in the comics, and it makes sense that he would. (To be fair, he might not have ever had the opportunity to study that; his skill-copying power may only be usable when it's up close and personal.)
Always glad to see The Creeper make an appearance in your pages. He's been a favorite of mine going back to his original mag. Would love to see him guest in the Arrowverse too.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Ryder-Rider team up? Creeper meets Nova

It may depend on the writer. I've seen a comic where Taskmaster got the drop on someone after he'd be watching wrestling on tv.
What BigMike said. Power levels always depend on the writer. Back in the early JLA days, whenever Gardner Fox needed a deus ex machina then J'onn J'onzz would display a new power (Martian lightning vision, Martian super-breath, etc.) that was never referenced again.
ReplyDeleteHow about Grimjack and Ripjak (Marvel Earth-691 GOTG) vs. Razorjack (Red Anvil comics)?
ReplyDeleteOr Crackerjack (Astro City) and Jack Jack (Incredibles) and Jack Pumpkinhead (Oz, either the original John R. Neill artwork, or Eric Shanower's comics version)
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see Topo (Aquaman's pet octopus) vs. Shuma-Gorath.
ReplyDeleteMike & Jay: That's what I was meaning. In the comics, Taskmaster can copy moves from watching them on TV; I seem to recall that that's how he managed Cap's moves. The movie version might be different. (I'm not expecting either one to be throwing any Batarangs, though!)
ReplyDelete@3H: from the Fishing Gear Dept. of Dick's Sporting Goods?
ReplyDeleteIt strikes me that Taskmaster might have a difficult time copycatting the Creeper. And for the same reason Midnighter once failed to anticipate the Joker's body language during a one-on-one fight.
ReplyDeleteThey both make it up as they go along.
Backtracking on what I said last night:
ReplyDeleteThere's one place we might see Taskmaster throwing Batarangs, and that's here at STF! He'd be combining Batman's style with Captain Boomerang's, and also using Oliver Queen's archery and a shield like Guardian's... and probably have some pretty good lasso skills too, thanks to Wonder Woman (though without the magical properties, of course)...
@Anon330: I'd prefer the animated version of Jack Pumpkinhead that was voiced by Paul Lynde (opposite Liza Minnelli voicing an animated Dorothy on a 2nd trip to Oz back in the Seventies).
