There are so many places that Hercules could show up in the MCU and add to the fun and action. His rivalry with Thor was always enjoyable, I'd love to see the two of them together. He'd be great with She-Hulk as well, once her show gets off the ground. He would fit in with The Eternals or Guardians of the Galaxy as well. Heck, stick him with Howard The Duck and let them loose on the big screen!
Xena, Wonder Woman, She-Hulk, Powergirl and Zatanna want to start their own football team. Herc is the other team.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that Hercules hasn't shown up yet... kinda. Well, I can understand why he hasn't yet... ;)
ReplyDeleteHe wouldn't have fit the story that was unfolding. But, hey, he should show up eventually.
Better yet! Have Hercules hold a drinking match with Galactus. I loved those Hercules mini series from 80s.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the Xena from the animated movie "Hercules and Xena - The Animated Movie: The Battle for Mount Olympus" (1998)?
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed.
ReplyDeleteSomeone long ago suggested that it would be fun to team up Marvel's Hercules with Disney's, Kevin Sorbo's, and a couple of others (I don't recall if DC has a version, at least with any sort of consistent portrayal). Just this morning I came up with a good title for that: "Crisis on Infinite Hercules"!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I think this one may show up somewhere in the MCU once the dust settles (no pun intended) from Endgame. It's hard to think of anyone he wouldn't be a fitting match with, except maybe Blade, but I have an equally hard time thinking of anything upcoming where he'd make an appropriate first appearance, other than Eternals or Thor: Love and Thunder; from what we know of those film so far, he'd have to be a cameo in the former or a mid-credits scene in the latter. But like AirDave said, he should show up eventually.
Moving over to Xena, I thought to check and see if you've ever teamed her with Wonder Woman, and of course you have, though on a photo cover (it'd be nice to see a comics-based one, and maybe repeated team-ups). But then I stumbled upon The Secret Sisterhood, which had sort of flown under my radar when they first appeared. I think it might be fun to see that team come back for something; maybe find the most misogynistic supervillain you can, and let them beat the crap out of him.
Totally unrelated idea: Magnus, Robot Fighter versus the android Captain Marvel.
Actually, I think Herc and Blade could work very well, together. Provided they team up with HTD to take on the Hellcow. The latter feasibly being portrayed on film as the vengeful widow (or daughter) of the Minotaur!
ReplyDeleteDC's Hercules
ReplyDeleteThere have been other renditions, but this was the one show had his own series.
Nice on e Ross! I really enjoyed those two Hercules mini-series that Marvel published many years ago. They were were well-written, action packed, and just plain fun. DC also had their short-lived Hercules Unbound series that was quite good as well.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you could do a Marvel Hercules VS DC Hercules and of course the inevitable team up to thwart a greater evil. Maybe some sort of alternate universe chaos created by The Anti-Monitor and Kang.
What's with the lines on Hercules shorts? If that's the imprint of his junk it must be oddly shaped.
ReplyDeleteMy thanks to you, Other Bob. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't know about any recent DC version but Curt Swan did a good Silver Age one.

ReplyDeleteAt one point DC did a Hercules series called Hercules Unbound set on DC Earth AD (After Disaster) that tied in with the original Atomic Knights. The series implied that this was the same Earth that would eventually see the emergence of Kamandi. The series featured Wally Wood and Walt Simonson art (not at the same time). Charlton also had a Hercules series.
ReplyDeleteI would also like the see a HERD OF HERCULI (which you have to admit is too good a name to ignore).
How do you keep this blog going without charging a fee?
ReplyDeleteXena would beat Hercules but he would get in some good licks.
I just caught Wolfhammer's comment above, about Kang and the Anti-Monitor. Oh, my goodness... if ever there was an excuse to crowd together every character who otherwise would never appear on this blog (Felix the Cat, the Road Rovers, Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys, the titular heroes from the Champions RPG, the Amalgam Universe characters, Die Fliedermaus, etc.), that would be it.
ReplyDelete@Bob: when it comes to Ross depicting Amalgam characters, here, you'd have a better chance of seeing a non-Connery 007.
ReplyDeletethat was i who posted back in November of 2017 about a whole Squad of various Hercules variants from across movies, comic books, cartoons and TV shows from the 1930s to the present....
ReplyDeleteand would like to see a Crisis of Infinite Hercules still....
using some of the more obscure ones would be fun, but perhaps harder for Ross to achieve....
great cover as always and Thanks for all you do Ross...
Will there be a team-up of Xena and Conan?
ReplyDeleteWould she be comfortable as a guest on his talk show? XD
ReplyDeleteIf not, she'd probably say, "No...Brian."
