Hela, as portrayed by Cate Blanchett, is easily one of my favorites of the villains that the MCU has given us. After seeing antagonists that had shades of grey to their personalities or understandable motivations, it was fun to see one that was just unapologetically evil. She looked great too, in her various outfits. I especially loved when she sported the full helmet, Jack Kirby's design looked amazing on the big screen. Let's hope that The Enchantress is as well realized.
Now that's a match up that's inspired Ross! While there are a few living heroes that might be able to help the Kid (like Dr Strange), it 'd be interesting to see who he could call on for assist against Hela. (Odin or Zeus maybe.)
ReplyDeleteAnd as this is on screen Moon River is playing to give it that extra oomph.
ReplyDeleteTo equal Jack Kirby's artwork, an MCU Enchantress would have to have the face of Angelina Jolie...and the body of Pamela Anderson.
ReplyDeleteHey! If CGI can give Sarah Jessica Parker the body of a Chihuahua...
ReplyDeleteI think that part of what helped with Hela's helmet was that it was a CGI/mocap creation. It was also scaled back somewhat from what's shown here (could you imagine trying to navigate a doorway in this thing?). The shots of her transforming her hair were mesmerizing, at least for me, and in retrospect probably should have elicited a comment from Loki along the lines of "I love what you've done with your hair."
ReplyDeleteKid Eternity would be an interesting guest character in the Arrowverse, especially in the Crisis on Infinite Earths event this fall. He could be used as a way to bring back Rip Hunter, Firestorm, and other characters who have died.
Your mention of the Enchantress made me wonder if the Marvel and DC Enchantresses have ever met, and sure enough they did back in #1688 when they menaced Thor and Supergirl. Once we see what the MCU Enchantress looks like, maybe they can meet again, and we can start a discussion on how each was treated on the big screen (Suicide Squad was a movie full of good bits and bad bits, with the handling of Enchantress being firmly in the latter category).
@Anon: Power Girl is the one who would need the body of Pamela Anderson. The MCU Enchantress could do just fine with the likes of Erica Durance.
I'd like to see Kid Eternity team up with Marvel's cosmic deity Eternity :D
ReplyDeleteOr how about Kid Eternity & Spider-Man, with the Kid bringing Uncle Ben back...
@Mr. Greenwade: only if Erica dyed her hair blonde. For me, that point would be/is non-negotiable.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: LOL! Don't complain to poor Bob.
ReplyDeleteComplain to the casting director for the DCEU.
P.S.---speaking of Amora: how about her seducing Ambush Bug for the Infinity Gauntlet?
ReplyDeleteOr, failing that, Princess Python working her wiles on Nightwing?
ReplyDeleteDo you really want to show the kid flying by the seat of his pants?
ReplyDeleteRoss you're time traveling inside out. It's not the kid you want to use, it's Parasite and/or Rogue. If he, or they both take on Hela do you really think the results would be that easy? Containing Superman's power is one thing but Hela's?
ReplyDelete@Anony Mouse: he ain't flying. He's falling!
ReplyDelete@HelloRoomService: if Parasite were to absorb Absorbing Man's powers before going after Hela, he might stand a fighting chance.
In fact, that chance might get doubled if Parasite could also add Doomsday's super-powers to the metahuman mix!
ReplyDeleteRoss don't let this parade pass you by.
ReplyDeleteHela vs an enhanced Parasite (by Absorbing Man and Doomsday and Rogue)
@Cary: I think you mean the MCU. But in any event, I was speaking only in regards to Ms. Durance's figure being suitable for Enchantress (or just about any other superheroine she should be cast for). I'm not as "up" on current actors and actresses as I could be, or I might've suggested someone more on point.
ReplyDeleteOh, and Cary... I see you're really carrying my "Ambush Bug with the Infinity Gauntlet" idea and running with it. Personally, though, I think I'd just want it to be "Ambush Bug Ruins the Marvel Universe."
@Bob Greenwade: Didn't the Joker already do that, though, way back in STF #61?
ReplyDeleteIt's not quite the same.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: Yeah! But, the STF-verse got rebooted by Bat-Mite and everyone's favorite Poppupian.
ReplyDeleteI think an MCU Enchantress would be better if cast with a true blonde. Like, say, Naomi Watts or Charlize Theron.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: I second that emotion!
ReplyDeleteCharlize would be a dead-on choice for the MCU Enchantress, yeah. Good call.
ReplyDeleteI agree. She was superb as Witch-Queen Ravenna in the two "Hunstman" movies.
ReplyDeleteHey! I just saw this same pose, by Kid Eternity, on an on-line reproduction of a Gawandaland TP cover!
