It looks like Marvel Studios will have the biggest presentation at next week's Comicon. We will finally hear some of what they have planned for Phase Four of their cinematic universe. Dare I hope that Namor is in the mix somewhere? Titans will also be having a presentation for their second season on DC's streaming service, hopefully there will be some footage of new members joining the team (or the series at least).
Regular followers of this blog may remember that Namorita joined the Teen Titans in STF #1714...
So something happened and Wonder Girl, Kid Flash and Aqualad have had their powers neutralized. Wow. And DC did covers like this a lot. Maybe you could have called this Seafood's Salad.
ReplyDeleteAs I understand it, the cinematic rights to Namor are owned by Universal, who, as Mark Ruffalo describes it, "for some reason don't know how to play well with Marvel." Call him showing up a 50/50 shot, and definitely not in a solo film; more likely, he'll be an antagonist for Black Panther.
ReplyDeleteWe need to see Asterix vs. Namor (spell his name backwards). These submariners are crazy!
ReplyDeleteMercy, I'm old! I remember this shot, from Teen Titans #11, Oct. '67 (I Google'd to get the right date). It's from an interior page, isn't it Ross? (The cover has Speedy ready to have the monster eat an arrow). Are the scans of the pages full color or do they still have the pixel dots like the old print pages?
ReplyDeleteThe Titans started out in the raft in street clothes and switched to costumes after meeting a suspicious character who told them about a monster on the lake (good old Silver Age quick change).
Is that sea serpent related to Gyarados? XD
ReplyDeleteJay, yes it was a splash page. No pixels because I was able to find a nice sharp copy on Comixology.
ReplyDelete@Anon+1: it was probably a side-effect of cheating the Leviathan in #1714. The human "sacrifice" on that occasion was probably Kid Flash who subsequently vibrated his way out of the creature's gullet (or whatever). And somehow suppressing his powers, along with those of Wonder Girl and Aqualad, insures they won't get away from that sea serpent on this occasion!
ReplyDeleteOr, at least, that's what Neptune probably thinks.

Dang. Should have known. It was probably that rainbow kryptonite they picked up along the way.
If, by that, you're referring to the Silver Age "jewel" kryptonite that allowed Phantom Zoners to telepathically control Earthlings, I'd be willing to buy that as a plot device for a real-world publication of this story.
ReplyDeleteIf it lets them exert a mind block on the Titans' powers then yeah, it could work.
ReplyDeleteNah. For superheroes they're still old kids who haven't learned enough from their mentors. Something temporarily absorbed their powers or transferred them. Everybody wants fresh plot devices. Dumb but fresh.
ReplyDeleteSans the muscles, Namorita is hot in her costume!
ReplyDeleteOK! How about the Super-Adaptoid upgraded by Dr. Light...and powered by jewel kryptonite?
ReplyDelete@Cary: that sounds more do-able. Between the jewel k and Dr. Light's knowledge of holography, the Super-Adaptoid could probably even _pose_ as one of the "super-powerless" Titans!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: in that event, I'd have it impersonate Speedy. With the real one kept unconscious using habit-forming drugs. That way, Ross could tie in any "sequels" to the now-classic GL/GA issue that dealt with teenage drug abuse.
ReplyDeletePerhaps during the next National D.A.R.E. Day.
