The Hulk and Shazam! (The TV Movie Adaptation!)

This is a TV crossover that would have knocked my socks off when I was a kid.  Despite the limited production values of each show, I took the adventures of these characters very seriously.  It sounds like a sequel to Shazam! will start shooting soon, despite the first film only being a modest hit.  That's a good thing, because I am eager to see where the story goes, especially with the alliance that was set up in the post-credits scene.

These two share a more traditional comic adventure in STF #2098...

  2. This would be a fun story to get. Loki or Dr Sylvana could have thrown a "tweak" in there somehow.

An inspiration from this cover: Wonder Woman and She-Hulk's minds trapped in each other's bodies.
One of the gods did it to teach both a lesson about how the other lives.

  3. @det_Tobor: She-Hulk looked less bimbo-y when in a torn(?) dress than she was in the likes of the "bathing suit" she wore as a member of the Fantastic Four.

  4. I could just imagine this psyche-transference being telepathically inspired, within Bruce's mind, by Morgan LeFay '78 (nee Jessica Walter).

  5. This would be a fun story even with Mark Ruffalo and Zachary Levi. I hope the next cover with this pair features those two in a photo cover.

I'm looking forward to the Shazam! sequel. The first was fun, despite its flaws, and hopefully those flaws will be addressed in the second film. In particular, it didn't really seem convincing that Asher Angel and Zachary Levi were playing the same person, in large part because of the script (Billy's and "Shazam"'s attitudes didn't seem to quite match up), though some matching of speech cadence and body language would have helped too. Two actors taking turns to play one character in different forms* is even more challenging than one actor playing multiple characters in turn, so I can't really lay any blame on Asher and Zachary, but they're both very good actors who I think can do better than what we saw before.

*That's not counting characters with personality changes as part of the transformation, as with the Hulk (Bixby/Ferrigno) or the Doctor.

  6. I always assumed it was the Wisdom of Solomon that allowed CM to pass as an adult, so it never bothered me that his personality was slightly different from Billy's. Of course today, when it seems that a lot of the tweens are more mature than a lot of adults (at least until the testosterone poisoning kicks in), and whether they are 'woke' or not, personality differences don't matter as much.

  7. Maybe not. But, even in this politically correct day-and-age, looks still count for over half the initial interest men and women show each other. For example: when Phil Donahue first laid eyes on Marlo Thomas, I guarantee you that--even in that ardent pro-feminist's mind--his first thought was NOT:

"Gee! I'll bet she can speed-read 'War And Peace' in the original Russian."

  8. I'm surprised none of the comics run from that era had storylines about what Freddy and Mary were up to while Billy was on the road with the unnamed Mentor.
