The Third Guardians of the Galaxy film looks to have a lot going on in it. There's the search for Gamora, integration of Thor onto the team and the introduction of Warlock (plus rumors of a romance for Rocket and the discovery of Drax living daughter). I imagine we will have to wait until James Gunn is done with The Suicide Squad before we hear of any casting though. For Warlock, they will need someone who can portray a genetically perfect human specimen, while having some comedy chops which these films call for. Maybe if Zac Efron's profile rises with the new Ted Bundy film that he is getting praise for, he'll be considered for the role.
Warlock first met the JLA in STF #1478...
Seeing this made me think that an interesting team up would be The Magus and the Crime Syndicate.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Felix Faust vs. Felix the Cat?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Donald Trump. He's already the right color. They'll save a fortune on body paint.
ReplyDeleteWhen you say "living daughter," you don't mean Moondragon, do you? Because that would only be possible by returning the movie-Drax to his original comic book back-story. Namely; that he was synthesized by Kronos (the hyper-evolved Titan) from space debris gathered together to host the spirit of a Thanos-slain Earthman!
ReplyDelete@ Anon#1: How about Felix the Cat, Neelix (Star Trek: Voyager), and Steelix (Pokemon)?; also @Anon#2: I though Kronos was an Earth Eternal that became a formless "god" when he did an experiment that caused all Earth Eternals to be virtually immortal, etc.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Loki will be in the next Guardians movie. It looks like Thor will be there. And it seems to me that Loki may have a chance of surviving since he managed to get a hold of the cosmic cube and escape. Anyone else have any thoughts on that?
ReplyDeleteI also have to wonder if (now referring to the cover) Galactus would try to consume a sun eater. That would be a lot of power to try and consume. And it would be a big change from consuming planets. Thoughts anyone?

We're in interesting times. Endgame cost 360 million to make, anyone can be a template for a computer body but you still need a good voice actor to actually play the part. Is it all worth while? If you can make 1 or 2 Billion dollars from such a movie, I guess so.
ReplyDeleteToo bad that none of this helps to increase comic sales since they haven't been increasing in numbers. Millions of people watching, but not picking up new readers.
So basically Galactus gets the LEFTOVERS?
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention the rumored villain of the High Evolutionary who plays into Warlock's history.
ReplyDeleteAs I recall Adam Warlock was given the soul stone by the High Evolutionary. This could make things interesting if it carries over to the MCU. Who knows ----- ten years from now the next phase of the MCU could culminate in a version of Starlin's Thanos-Magus-Warlock saga.......
DeleteGreat solid design. Best yet! Jim Starlin is the grandfather of the MCU, although I don't think he would appreciate that title.
ReplyDeleteAnon 3, I'd prefer Felix and Dogmatix (and Asterix and Obelix)
ReplyDeleteI had not heard anything about those rumors of a romance for Rocket, or Drax finding that his daughter is alive. Either of those things would be very interesting. Certainly adding Thor to the mix (no doubt as someone who can challenge Adam Warlock) will bring some fun.
ReplyDeleteFor Anon #2: It might or might not be Moondragon, and if it is I have little doubt that the producers could make it work without necessarily reverting or otherwise altering Drax' origin.
For Anon #4: You may already know this, but technically the Loki that got away with the Tesseract wasn't the same one that died, but one from an alternate timestream. Of course that's not to say that he won't show up at some point in the future, but he'll have no memory of anything we've seen since the Battle of New York.
PS: I had a weird thought the other day, of showing a brewing romance (or at least a one-night stand) between Dr. Strange and Zatanna.
ReplyDelete@Anon918: as I recall the original story, Kronos' experiment ultimately caused him to evolve into a sentient energy state. Similar to Blip, Zzzax, the Living Laser, etc. etc.
ReplyDeleteOnly much, much older, of course!
I have thought that a more logical Amalgam for Galactus than the one they actually did (with Brainiac) would be to amalgamate him with the Sun-Eater, simply changing his diet.
ReplyDelete"Galactus, the Sun-Eater". ^_^
@det_Tobor: maybe potential new readers are getting as fed up with the 10-year Itch as each generation of "old" readers.
ReplyDeleteRocket and Moondragon sitting in a tree K I S S I N G. 1st comes love then comes "marry agge" - Captain Jack Sparrow.
ReplyDeleteBrother! You're a genius!!
ReplyDeleteCapt. Jack Sparrow meets Red Sparrow...in the Bermuda Triangle.
@Carycomic on the Van Helsing monster Cruise ship from Hotel Transylvania 3 no less.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteDoctor StrangeFate (Amalgam) Meets Spawn (Todd McFarlane).
@Brother: Who knows? Maybe Disney could team up with Columbia/Sony to co-produce a live-action version of that trilogy.
ReplyDeleteI mean, look how many production companies had to finance JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3!
