What a weird movie Venom is. The usually nuanced Tom Hardy was hamming it up pretty strongly - I'm still wondering how they thought that scene with the lobster tank was a good idea. Some of the action sequences were fun, but the overall production seemed a little off to me. Venom looked pretty cool though, even if he was missing his spider symbol. I can't say it's a bad film, I was entertained. It was just... weird.
The one in SPIDER-MAN 3 (w/Tobey Maguire) was better.
ReplyDeleteWhereas both movie Venoms put together would get their proverbial clocks cleaned by the Superman from DAWN OF JUSTICE. Single-handedly!
Fantastic pairing!
ReplyDeleteok, its settled then...next movie has Venom & Deadpool.
ReplyDelete@det_Tobor: I can see it now: Venom eats Deadpool. Venom vomits up Deadpool. Deadpool's and Venom trade banter until Deadpool has put his body back together. Rinse and Repeat for 90 minutes.
ReplyDeleteNice cover! I like both the original BLUE BEETLE and the newer version as well. VENOM along with CAPTAIN MARVEL are the only two Marvel films I didn't bother watching as neither looked interesting.
ReplyDeleteAs for the much maligned DCEU. I've only skipped SUICIDE SQUAD. The silly trailers killed my interest.
I have to say I'm really looking forward to the upcoming BLACK WIDOW and BATMAN films. I hope both are more gritty and realistic takes on these two legendary heroes.
"Capt. Marvel" was definitely more interesting than "Shazam." But, I couldn't agree with you guys more about "Venom." It was no more a legit MCU film than "Catwoman" starring Halle Berry was a DCEU film!
ReplyDeleteAny chance of this Blue Beetle taking on Jack of Hearts?
