The Watcher and Guardians of the Universe

The most intriguing show that I have heard being prepared for the Disney+ streaming service is a What If? animated series.  It is said to tell alternate versions of tales that we have seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they will try to get the actors from the movies to provide the voices.  The First will be "What if Agent Carter became Captain America.  I'll be interested to see what type of animation style is used, and most importantly, if Uatu the Watcher will serve as host like he does in the comics.

The Watcher and The Guardians first met in STF #199...

  1. What If . . . The Guardians of the Universe watched the Watcher? What the--?

  2. Agent Carter would become The American Dream! She could work with Lady Liberty & Miss Justice.

  3. A sentient galaxy? Whoa... I hope you build on that story, and pay it off in #2600!

Uatu would be the appropriate host for a What If? TV series, and I do hope the producers understand that. I'd especially look for it if they did "What If Tony Stark Had Kept His Identity Secret?"

I also think it would be fun to have the Watcher watching the Watchmen, thus answering the age-old question. (Yes, they met way back in #470, but this is a different matter. This time, he's just watching the Watchmen... maybe even on TV.)

And det_Tobor's remark reminds me of something that's been requested before (not by me originally, though I support it): Captain America and Wonder Woman seeing their daughter grown up, and having become American Maid.

  4. A sentient galaxy sounds like something that [Silver Age] Superman might have met.
Then again, some comic's writers seem to have said 'galaxy' when what they meant was 'solar system'...

Mad God Sector 3600 was a sentient space sector that was imprisoned by the Guardians and later freed by Sinestro

  6. Hmmm! I wonder if that could be the Black Galaxy that the Marvel version of the Dire Wraiths came from?

  14. In fact, rumor has it "Little Big Man" was originally going to be called "A Boy Named Sioux." But, Dustin Hoffman was told by Johnny Cash the Dakota Nation might initiate legal action. So...
