The Invaders and Sgt. Rock in: "A Timely Intervention"

Now that Marvel has access to all of its characters for future movies, most of the talk has been about new versions of The X-Men and Fantastic Four appearing on the big screen.  While I'd like to see those as well, another property that they can finally give audiences is The Invaders.  Even if Captain America is taken off the table after Avengers: Endgame, there's no reason that we can't see an adventure out of his past with Namor and the original Human Torch.

Sgt. Rock first met the Invaders in STF #1348...

  2. I don't know why, but some of my favorite stories are westerns and WW2 set. The meetings you made between the Invaders and Sgt. Rock are meetings that definitely should have taken place. Thinking about it, I am a little surprised that the DC vs. Marvel series in the 1990s did not at least have a panel showing it. (At least I don't recall seeing it.)

Happy Easter to all. Let us not forget the significance of today as we celebrate our risen Savior who died for all of our sins that we may have the hope of eternal life and to dwell with Him forever in Heaven where there will be no more pain and sorrow!

  4. Happy holidays to people of all religions. Ross, dd you see the Justice League animated where the group go back to WWII? I think it was Superman who flew thru a nazi plane and on exiting, covered in fuel, was flying like the Human Torch. Nice. I believe it was Savage as the baddie this time.

Maybe for a future 80 page special cover, you could do the JSA, the Invaders, Sgt Rock & Sgt Fury. Your choice of them vs Aliens & nazis, Earth X villians, or ???

  6. And here I thought we might get an appearance by Captain Carrot. Nice cover though Ross. Sgt. Rock and the Invaders are old favorites of mine and always great to see.
    Happy Easter everybody!

  7. There's apparently still a little problem with using Namor in a movie; it's not entirely clear what the deal is, but, while Marvel *can* use him in a movie, they'd still have to pay out something to Universal (or just certain people at Universal) for... reasons? Some kind of clause from the old licensing deal that didn't expire when the rights reverted to Marvel or something.

But if they do make an Invaders movie, Torch should be played by that guy who played the Johnny Storm Torch in the two Tim Story FF movies. That'd be cool. As for Namor... well, it's kind of a dark horse, but... I say Chris Evans. He could probably have a lot of fun in that role. That'd make an awesome cast. :)

  8. @Green Luthor: I think that particular Torch was played by the same actor who saved Kim Basinger's character in CELLULAR. ;-)

  9. The comment about Blackhawks made me think of a cover with Blackhawks and Nick Fury, maybe even a split cover with Blackhawks and Nick Fury twice - once now and once in future. Title: "The war to end all wars - again!"

  11. P.S.---I'm surprised you never had The Star-Spangled Kid and Stripsey team up with the Howling Commandos. Seeing as how Pat Dugan could be Dum-dum's brother!
