Steel and Machine Man

I've lost track of both of these heroes since I stopped regularly buying comics (the hobby priced me out - I am a digital sale trade waiter these days).  The last I am aware of John Henry Irons is that he passed on his heroic identity to his daughter, who's running with the Teen Titans now.  I haven't heard much about Aaron Stack since his team Nextwave closed up shop.  Hopefully they have both found new homes since,  they are both great characters.

  1. Machine Man was recently in the New Iron Man series dating Jocasta.

I quit it 11-12 years ago for that same reason.

  4. The last I heard, Machine Man had sold the rights to the name "Nextwave" to the resident hydrokinetic of the Masters of Disaster on "Black Lightning the Series." While John Henry Irons had retired from superheroics to become a TV commercial spokesperson for General Car Insurance.

    ;-D

  5. Been a fan of Machine Man since 2001 (the series, not the year), but truly hated his X-51 series that tried to tie him to the X-Men. What were they thinking?

  6. Last I heard, John Henry Irons had proposed marriage to Lana Lang and she'd accepted (at the end of the 'Rebirth' era's 'Superwoman' series).

I know exactly what you mean. As I recall, though, the main reason I quit was because following the storylines became too stressful.

    BTW Anonymous lol!

  8. Last I heard, John Henry Irons was a giant chicken...

    HE'S A CHICKEN, I TELL YOU! A GIANT CHICKEN!

  9. At least they put John Henry in the Reign of the Supermen animated.

Are you aware of the new trend of crossovers, like Archie & Batman? You might be surprised at who Betty & Veronica are meeting up with now.

  11. The "hobby priced me out" too, Ross. So by the '90s, I switched to serious graphic novels (from authors like Joe Sacco, Harvey Pekar, or Marjane Satrapi) and abandoned DC and Marvel forever. You get more bang for your buck with these serious independent publications then the trash being put out by the mainstream. I havent looked back, frankly.
