Legion of Super-Heroes and The Sub-Mariner

Aquaman was such a surprise big hit that not only has a sequel been announced, but also a spin-off horror movie based on The Trench.  I thought that they looked great in the movie and I really enjoyed the scenes that they appeared in - but can they support a film all by themselves?  Do they even speak?  I guess they could tell the story of how they mutated over the years into their current forms.

  1. I always thought Tellus would be a good team up with Namor and here I get it although he is a minor character.

  2. Actually, Glenn, I think that arm belongs to Devilfish (the pollution-eating gill man first introduced in a Superboy 100-page super spectacular).

As to The Trench? Maybe they could be incorporated into the Lovecraft Mythos with Dr. Terrence Thirteen investigating a suspicious figure named...Keith Ulu!

  3. Actually, Tellus is up there in the sky.

  4. @jTh.: Are sure that's not a bird? Or a plane?

(In the words of Phil Coulson: Sorry. Couldn't resist.)

  5. How would this Captain Marvel interact with Superboy/ Superman since they would not be related, but from opposite sides of the spectrum. He wouldn't relate to her the way he does to Diana.

  6. Well, since Carol Danvers isn't his biological sister (in the STF-verse), i don't see where a more-than-amiable relationship would be impossible. Especially, as Diana is married to Steven Trevor Rogers!*

*Again, in this universe (if no other).

  7. The Legion portion of the cover with Devil-Fish, Superboy, Mon-El, Light Lass, and Element Lad is slightly different from the cover of SUPERBOY #202, which I remember well, because it was the very first Legion comic I bought. ^_^

  8. The story's name is "The Wraith of the Devil-Fish" and the Devil-Fish, created by Dave Cockrum, is the arm coming out of the water. The legionnaires in the sky are added to the cover but Element Lad, Light Lass and Mon-El were on it. Three of the legionnaires (Tellus, Quislet and Sensor Girl) did not exist as members until many years later but this is a time travel issue so perhaps legionnaires came from multiple times.

An excellent job of composition this cover is.

  9. @Bob Greenwade: Maybe Underdog could meet the Pet Avengers and/or the Legion of Super-pets

  10. How about Underdog meets Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse?

Ross could call it... "Pet World's Finest!"

  11. I got out my LEGION ARCHIVES volume 10 to check the cover of #202 (the cover is reprinted in that volume), and I found what's off. The drawing of the four bottom Legionnaires indeed is from the original cover of SUPERBOY #202, but on the STF "cover" the colors are wrong on Element Lad and Light Lass, and on Mon-El's cape. The blues on those three have all turned purple, and the green parts of Jan's costume look more like chartreuse.
