Continued from yesterday's cover, we see that there is one thing that can break up this new alliance. I know that Batman and Catwoman flirted for a long time before tying the knot on Earth Two - but was Alan Scott the first hero to go ahead and marry one of his villains?
Green Hornet met Green Lantern Kyle in STF #844 and Green Lantern Hal in STF #1815...
Next year will be the 25th anniversary of the cartoon show Mutant League. maybe you could pair characters from that show with Itchy and Scratchy (The Simpsons); the game-play in Mutant League looks an awful like the violence on The Itchy and Scratchy Show scenes on The Simpsons! XD
ReplyDeleteAlan Scott's marriage to Molly ('Harlequin') Mayne wasn't until quite a few years after the E2 Batman & Catwoman had wed, whether we're talking IC or OOC. In fact, Helena 'Huntress' Wayne was already a JSA member (and her parents were both dead) when the Scott/Mayne marriage took place...
ReplyDeleteAlan Scott married two villains. His first wife being the original Thorn, mother of Jade and Obsidian.
ReplyDelete@Anoymous- Considering what DC did to Scott during the PU...... Er, I mean Nu 52 it might not be a mistake! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe original Black Canary started out as a bad girl (in the eyes of the law, she was actually a Robin Hood type) that ended up marrying the cop (Larry Lance) who was chasing her (in Johnny Thunder's strip, of all places, until she kicked him out of it), but that's the only cross-sides marriage I remember. The other few were all both villains (Tigress/Huntress & Sportsmaster) or heroes (the Hawks).
ReplyDeleteThe Brown Hornet (CBS Filmation), The Green Hornet (WXYZ Radio Detroit), & The Hudson Hornet (Pixar), VS The Exterminator (Interstar Pictures).
ReplyDeleteHave The Blue-Beetle (PBS the Electric Company) Meet Mister Green Jeans (CBS Captain Kangaroo).
ReplyDeleteGreat rendition, Ross!
ReplyDeleteI can see these two teaming up with the Green Lama as a sort of Golden Age prototype of your Emerald Elite. Albeit, maybe under the more melodramatic moniker...The Daring of the Green!*
*After all, St. Patrick's Day is now just two short months away.
Or, failing that, I'd settle for Hawkman meets Hudson Hawk.*
ReplyDelete*Possibly vs. The Gentleman Ghost.
I think Cary's on to something there. Bringing back the Emerald Elite for a St. Patrick's Day cover would be both appropriate and fun. Failing that, team up Marvel's Banshee with an equally Irish DC hero; I'd suggest that they fight the old Champions supervillain Shamrock, but the only images I can find are for the Marvel superheroine of the same name.
ReplyDelete@Cary Comic: Actually St. Patrick's Day is more like two AND a half months away
ReplyDelete@Anon: But, who's counting? ;-)

Good point. Huntress was enough older than those twins, though, that I think the Batman/Catwoman marriage must still have been earlier than Alan Scott's first one.

Jack-o-Lantern?
It would be cool to see a triple team-up between Green Hornet/Kato, Crimson Avenger/Wing, and Judo Master/Tiger.
ReplyDeleteNo capes!
ReplyDeleteAs Brother Barnes might say:
ReplyDelete"Capes? How gauche!"
"Not bad! How gauche it wit you?"
