Red Lanterns and Red Hulk

It was fun to see Dex-Starr and some other Red Lanterns show up on Justice League Action.  I also got a kick out of their appearances on the Green Lantern CGI series a few years back.  You can tell that the artists and creators really had fun with the character designs for the Corps members - and they really translate well to animation.

  1. I was disappointed with the direction the Green Lantern cartoon took. It was a cool cartoon. But to send Hal off on a shop almost Lost in Space; and to introduce the Red Lanterns immediately, instead of building up to them... There could have been so much more done to build to where they ended up at...And unfortunately it didn't last... I guess because the 'toon couldn't sell toys...

  2. Have to wonder if the Scarlet Witch shows up in pt. 2 to sort this all out

  3. How about The Mask (green) vs. The Red Skull (red); they both show a cranial look!

  4. Following up on Anonymous' suggestion: have you ever done a team of skulls? In addition to the Mask and the Red Skull, there's Skeletor, Batman's Black Mask, and Infinity Inc's nemesis Mr Bones. I'm sure there are many, many others. Maybe they could try to harness the dragon teeth army from Jason and the Argonauts!!

  7. Nice cover, Ross! If this one was a real comic, I imagine that many fans would refuse to put it down until it was completely red! #BadPunNoCookie [though I'm surprised nobody beat me to it]

Seconding Dr OTR's suggestion of a skull team; though I think they might be less a "team" than an "alliance," so you could call them the Alliance of Skulls. The cover could also show a small cameo by the hapless Mr. Skullhead from Animaniacs.

And here's hoping Matter-Eater Lad gets a Thanksgiving appearance (maybe in a planet-eating contest with Galactus!).

  8. In keeping with the spirit of the suggestions made by Anonymous and Dr. OTR: How about a Brainiacized Red Skull (via a Brainite-infested Machinesmith)?

  9. Because I vaguely remember, Ross, that you once said you preferred Brainiac's pre-COIE (metallic Skeletor) look to his Silver Age Coluan look. Or am I mistaken?

  10. I think a better title might have been "RED IN TOOTH AND CLAW!"

  11. I miss The Green Lantern CGI Series and the Batman CGI series. If I wanted to be with the Popular kids I wouldn't have read comics and watch Animated shows on Saturday mornings to begin with, ergo Negative "Opinions" - The FiXX, mean nada, zilch, the big fat 0 to me, however your Preference ( by L'Oreal)/Preferences are of interest even if they are the opposite of mine own. Cue "Blood Brothers" - IroN MaideN, and fade to Metallic Green.

  12. Blood Brothers? As in the Ben Grimm look-a-likes who once served Thanos?

  14. IDC if the Red Hulk has been in a movie or not by the by so that talking point is off the table. The Rest is "...A Free For All..." - Ted Nugent.

  15. Anonymous listen to the song for yourself and decide if that's what IroN MaideN is saying.

  16. Anonymous weren't they on board that prison ship that crashed on Earth with Drax The Destroyer? This was when Drax was stupid until he got pounded, and the more he got smacked around the smarter he got. I think it was in the late 19990's? (MARVEL)

  17. Is Captain Flash still in Americomics? Have a SUPER Team of Public Domain Comic Characters, Public Image Limited, The John Q Public's, The Public Forum.

  18. I prefer the Late Silver Age version of Drax. The one who was like a Marvel analog of the Martian Manhunter!

  20. @Brother Barnes: it was probably dyed red by the same guy who worked on Cesar Romero's moustache for BATMAN '66 (TOS).
