Superman Vs. Doctor Octopus

Henry Cavill has been hinting lately that he is once again bulking up for the role of Superman.  This is Good news because I do like his portrayal, despite the poor scripts he has had to work with thus far.  The question is where he will return - in a sequel of his own or perhaps a cameo in Shazam! or another DC movie?  Hopefully there will be some sort of announcement at the upcoming Comicon that will shed more light on DC's plans for the Man of Steel.

  3. This is one of the few times that I felt like the image told the story so well that it didn't need a word balloon, title or caption. Plus I didn't want to clutter up the artwork!

  4. Are Doc Ock's "tentacles" green and glowing (in the artwork) from containing Kryptonite?

  5. @Anon: I would assume so, or this would not be much of a contest.

  6. They have met before. Doc O, teamed up with Luthor to face Supesw and Spidey in the first Superman/Spiderman crossover event.

  7. Henry Cavill certainly made BvS:DOJ and JUSTICE LEAGUE more watchable than they would've been with Brandon Routh!

Re: Breenlantern's question? I do agree with your answer. I mean; think about it! Suppose you had depicted Doc Ock going up against Bat-Azrael. Wouldn't it have been a guaranteed groaner to use a title like "How Green Was My Jean-Paul Valley?"

    *bigger smirk*

  8. Does Doc Ock accidentally call Superman "Spider-Man" anywhere in this story? ;)

  10. Hey! I can remember when Spidey's civilian identity was (temporarily, thank God) "Peter Palmer!!"

  11. Brandon Routh could certainly have done a better job with a better script. Superman does not work by making him darker and having him come back from space and have Lois pregnant and have had a child? LAME! DC realizes that with the retroactive replacing of New Superman with Old Superman (Sounds like what happened with New Coke and Old Coke).

  12. Maybe Peter Palmer could be the Spider-Man of the DCU, related to Ray Palmer (the Silver Age Atom)?

  15. I'm sorry, but Henry Cavill never seemed like Superman to me. Admittedly the writing was the major part of that, but still… I have a very clear notion of who Superman is, how he should act, carry himself and so on, and he just never seemed to match that. George and Chris, Brandon Routh, Dean Cain, Tom Welling all captured at least some major aspects of it. Of all the major Superman portrayals, I think his performance, as well as the screen play is my least favorite.
