Like many, I did not like it when Blue Beetle Ted Kord was killed off, even if I did like his replacement. I am glad that DC eventually came to their senses and brought Kord back, as a mentor to the younger Beetle. It looks like similar things are happening with Ray Palmer sharing the Atom Identity with Ryan Choi.
Jaime Reyes first entered Tony Stark's armory in STF #386...
war machine and red tornado or robotman also blue beetle and black beetle?
ReplyDeleteLoved the title.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great follow-up to the Iron Beetle incident, though I'd been (rather infamously) hoping for a reappearance of Jaime in that color scheme, ideally teamed up with Green Lantern Matt Murdock (or, as I like to call him, Green Devil).
ReplyDeleteI agree with Glenn about the title. In the story, it could even have a triple meaning -- like if there's any kind of illicit surveillance in the lab. Depending on who put it there, the story could more or less write itself.
I remember when Mike Grell wrote and drew Iron Man. I know he used James Rhodes but I don't remember if he used War Machine .I have been in a discussion with fellow fans of Mike Grell's artwork and thought as suggestion for future team ups the Warlord and StarSlayer or Green Arrow and Shaman's Tears.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I don't like this version of the Blue Beetle. It's just that I like the Ted Kord version so much better. I am definitely not a fan of the way DC used and (IMO) abused the old Charlton "Action Heroes". Probably the character that has fared the best at DC is Nightshade. But she bares little resemblance--other than sharing the same name--to her original Charlton counterpart.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these characters served as replacements for other characters. At least Marvel generally tries to give the replacement a new identity when the main hero returns such as War Machine, USAgent, Thunderstrike, etc. DC prefers having multiple characters using the same codename simultaneously.
ReplyDeleteI loved the title of their first meeting. It reminds me of the Kryptonian insect depicted in that Silver Age Lois Lane adventure where Velvet O'Mara was the Evil Insect Queen!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: I think you're referring to SUPERMAN'S GIRLFRIEND #69 (Oct. 1966).
ReplyDeleteAnswer Man like Spider-Man (Peter Parker) and Spider-Man (Miles Morales) and Spider-Man 2099? And like Wasp and Wasp? Don't be a Marvel Zombie.
ReplyDelete@GH: Let's not forget Black Widow (Natasha Romanova) and Black Widow (Blonde Psycho Beeyotch Impostor).
ReplyDeleteAs of the latest 'Justice League #1' (this month), it seems that even Ted's time as a League member might now be back in continuity. His costume is shown alongside those of various other members, current & past, at the entrance of the newly-built 'Hall of Justice'.
