I have some Avengers: Infinity War speculation here, so beware if you haven't seen it....
OK, so the post credits scene featured Nick Fury sending a distress call to Captain Marvel, using a retro-looking phone. Earlier we saw Doctor Strange telling Tony Stark that giving up the Time Stone was the only way that they could hope to defeat Thanos. Some leaked images have shown Captain America in his costume from the first Avengers alongside of Ant-Man, who never met him until Civil War. It seems as though there is going to be some timeline hopping and possibly restructuring in the next movie - I wouldn't be surprised to find out Strange had tampered with the stone before turning it over. I thought this plot device would not be used until Kang was available as a character, but that seems like where we are headed - and it opens up all kinds of fun possibilities.
The only speculating I'll do in response is wondering what particular monster the Huntress and the original Ms. Marvel are fighting. A cross between Eclipso and Zzzax?

ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this title, I thought the Ms. Marvel to be featured was the new one, who was recently announced as soon to appear in the MCU (a decision that I, for one, fully support and look forward to).
ReplyDeleteThat said, quite a bit of time stuff is bound to come up with the Time Stone in play, and if the MCU Avengers ever do get to face Kang (with Dr. Strange in tow, of course), things could get really fun.
If he does enter the shared Marvel Movie-verse, the Rama Tut aspect of Kang's origin will have to be completely eliminated. Since neither version of the cinematic FF exist within it!
ReplyDeletePerhaps the Avengers have done the trick the JLA has done with the Atom - have Antman ride on stone to ensure later they can do something but that seems too much in violation of the "Don't touch the infinity stone or you will die" rule.
ReplyDeleteAll of the phones seemed retro to me, even Tony's, so maybe no high tech phone producer want to pay to place their product in movie.
Kind of a moot point, Glenn. With half of Earth-MCU's population having literally gone to pieces, it really doesn't make any difference whether or not one is shouting "Can you hear me, now?" into a cellphone that's one or two generations behind (lol)!
ReplyDeleteThe MCU Thanos is actually more sympathetic IMO than the MU Thanos. He did not destroy Titan but it was an example of what he believed in that humanoid overpopulation would destroy worlds. That is NOT entirely incorrect concept but his solutionis what most cannot stomach. It is NOT too different from when Illuminati in MU were destroying alternate worlds to prevent them from crashing into Earth. Iron Man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange were part of that group.

ReplyDelete@GH: they kind of hinted at it during the sneaky epilogue of the very first Avengers flick, when that Chitauri Skrull tells Thanos that combatting them "is to court Death."
