The Flash Vs. Speed Demon
Watching John Wesley-Shipp as Jay Garrick on CW's The Flash is one of the highlights of the show for me, and I am always glad when he shows up. I was a huge fan of Shipp's 90's Flash series and was always bothered that it never got a fair shot - first being put up against the then still new Simpsons, and then often being pre-empted and moved all around the TV schedule. It never really got the chance to catch on with audiences. It was a stroke of genius for the producers of the current show to bring back Shipp (along with Mark Hamill, Corinne Bohrer and others) to respect and honor what has come before. After all, readers of The Flash know the comics have always been about honoring legacies.
I liked the cover, but I especially liked what you wrote under it. Good words sir.
ReplyDeleteHear, hear!
ReplyDeleteIt always bothered me that CBS started it at 7:30 after Shatner's Rescue 911. For it's time, the effects were pretty good and the stories were good, too.
...i agree whole heartedly....
ReplyDeletea very classy move by the people of the "Arrowverse"...
you are preaching to the chior...
Amen, Brother Ross, Amen.
also making john wesley shipp barry's dad didn't hurt the show either...lol
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about John Wesley Shipp -- and don't forget that the producers also brought back Amanda Pays, and in the role of Tina McGee no less. Seeing those two share the screen just before Henry's death was a particularly special treat.
ReplyDeleteIt would have been great to see David Cassidy show up as well (he was, if I recall correctly, the Mirror Master in the first series), especially if daughter Katie was also involved, but of course he's a little hard to book these days.
As for today's cover: We can hope that Barry and Whizzer are not too far away!
i know it is off topictopic, but have you read that Stephen Hawking has passed away...
ReplyDelete...R.I.P.
If only the _writers and publishers_ of DC comics would be so honorable. JLA meets Watchmen?! Please! I don't know one direct-marketing comic shop in my neck of woods that's ordered it.
ReplyDeleteAt the risk of sounding like a brown-noser, Ross? You're about one the only one we can count for near-infallible dependability.
@Jackel: I heard about it on the radio after supper, earlier tonight.
ReplyDeleteHe was taken much too soon. :-(
