Batman meets Han Solo & Chewbacca

Star Wars: The Last Jedi seemed to divide fans and critics, and I would have to say that my opinion falls somewhere in the middle.  My main issue was that the film felt bloated with some unnecessary elements.  The whole Finn/Rose/DJ subplot at the Casino did not work for me and I feel could easily have been jettisoned.  I think that the actions of Laura Dern's Holdo character should have been given to Admiral Ackbar, he deserved much better than what he got.  While I wish Luke was more proactive, old Jedis becoming hermit loners is in keeping for the series so far.  I did like the performances and action sequences (and yes, the Porgs) quite a bit, and I liked Leia's force moment more than most seem to.  Hopefully in the next installment the last remaining heroes from the original trilogy - Chewie and the Droids - get a lot more to do.

  1. I think that this would make for a good set of stories, like a 3-5 issue mini-series. That series may or may not include other heroes. I could tolerate others, but I think that this mix is good enough. I could assume Darth Vader's involvement, but I cannot help wondering who he might pair up with. Maybe no one, but if one wants another villain, I am just not sure who I would want to see. Given what appears to be time travel considerations, I could see Kang the Conqueror. For myself, I could be happy with just Vader. This is one of my favorites of yours so far.

  2. Like most comics in the early '80s, I bet the scene on this cover never takes place, or a very loose variation if it does!! Ha ha! Didnt you just hate that sometimes?

  3. My biggest nitpick with TLJ was the too-soon killing off of Snoke! I would still like to find out if the First Order predates the Order of the Sith or was merely founded after the final dissolution of Palpatine's Empire. As it is, I feel safe in thinking that Rey's biological parents will NOT turn out to be just itinerant space junk dealers willing to abandon her at the first sign of panic!

Regarding today's cover? I have to wonder if that vital info was brought to Earth of the 1960's by Rip Hunter.* The latter then caching it in the (relatively near-future) Batcave with the help of Han's ancestor, Napoleon Solo!

*Batman first met the Time Master in B&B:TNG #110...when they were the captives of what looked like mutant Ugnaughts!

  4. Idea: Dr. Strange's foe Nightmare tries to usurp the Dreaming from Dream--who is his father.
