Black Goliath and Blue Beetle

Black Goliath's costume just screams Bronze Age and I love it.  I always liked those high collars, even though they don't seem to serve a purpose other than restricting peripheral vision. I do wonder why he left his gut uncovered.  Maybe Bill Foster really worked hard on his crunches and wanted to make sure everyone could see his six pack?

  1. An interesting crossover might be of George of the Jungle and various(?) jungle-based black superheroes (i. e. Black Panther, Shuri, etc.(?)) where George thinks they're odd-looking because they're black (in the 60s cartoon show, even the natives looked white).

  2. Anonymous, that has go to be the absolute worst suggestion I've ever seen on this site.

  3. Jay Ward, the creator of George of the Jungle, was probably following a lazy assumption the black people LITERALLY don't exist on that cartoon's fictional world. George even referred to his mate(?) Ursula as a funny-looking fellow.

  4. I don't know if this had anything to do with it but in the 70's and 80's it was men that were wearing crop tops rather than females. So maybe his costume designer was trying to be at the front of fashion.

  5. Interesting color scheme on the Bad Guys' uniforms. Like a cross between Goldbug and Jake "Scorpio" Fury (of ZODIAC fame).

  6. I someday hope to see Bill Foster married to Jane Foster. If not on one of your covers, then (hopefully) in the _next_ Thor sequel.
