Green Lantern and Doctor Strange

Many people are speculating that there will be an appearance by one Green Lantern or another in Justice League.  If they go with a CGI alien GL, I can see that happening - but it's going to be a tougher surprise to pull off if they want to use John Stewart or Hal Jordan, who are scheduled to appear in their own film down the line.  Will they be able to cast an actor and film a scene without something leaking out?  It wouldn't be impossible, but it certainly wouldn't be easy to keep a lid on it.

  1. I could see this happening on a mystical attack on OA.

  2. I'm half-hoping/half-guessing that it will be John Stewart. Ryan Reynolds probably wouldn't want to reprise the character of Hal Jordan, seeing as how he enjoyed much more success (critically and commercially) as Deadpool.

  3. As to the Bad Guy(s) responsible? I say...Evil Star and Dormammu.

  4. Bonus points to DC if Ch'p or B'dg make an appearance.

  5. While the Green Lantern movie certainly had issues, I don't think it fair to lay those at the feet of Reynolds. His portrayal of HJ/GL was, in my opinion, spot-on.

  6. That is just a gorgeous piece of work! Your assembly is splendid and it looks wonderful, and thought provoking.

I wonder if at some point you might consider a Green Lantern / Quasar cover? I know the Nova Corps is a lot closer to the Green Lantern Corps, but I thought Quasar and GL were pretty close in powers.

  7. Thank you, ELS! I definitely want to use Quasar again.

  8. Agreed, Emsley Wyatt. I also don't think the movie as a whole was that bad. I like it, in fact. If it had been released in the MCU, I think it would have been seen as not exactly stellar (no pun intended), but fun enough...somewhere along the lines of the first Thor film. I think maybe people expected too much from a movie about a guy who becomes a space cop by getting a magic wishing ring from a dying space alien. It didn't take itself too seriously, and viewers weren't quite ready for that.

  9. The horrible misuse of Parallax is what killed the GL movie, IMHO. If they had spent the money they wasted on those effects on makeup for a few good Omega Men-type villains, somebody it makes sense for a group of space cops to go after, they could have still had their big ending fight where an out-numbered Hal holds on until the cavalry Corps arrives without the audience breaking out laughing.

  10. My guess is: we see Abin Sur crash on Earth and send out his ring to find a replacement in a post-credits scene of the Justice League movie.

  11. Green Lantern / Quasar would be a good start to a two parter with second part being GL Corps / Nova Corps. And keep Reynolds away from GL role; the film issues were not all his fault but he certainly did improve what he was given.

  12. Personally, I liked GL The Movie, precisely _because_ it didn't take itself too seriously. But, then again, that's probably why the Seth Rogenized "Green Hornet" was a mega-flop. It took itself much too comedically!
