I thoroughly enjoyed Netflix' Defenders. I thought it was a wise decision to keep it to eight episodes, as there was almost no filler and plenty of action. It was great seeing the characters interact, especially Jessica Jones' reactions to everyone. The series moves all the characters forward, but to me it felt mostly like a Daredevil continuation with guest stars (not a bad thing at all). Sigourney Weaver was OK as a villain, but never felt quite menacing enough for me. The main thing is that the show entertained and really makes me want to see where each individual series goes next (even Iron Fist, he is much improved here over his solo outing). And that moment with Misty and Colleen at the end? Bring on Daughters of the Dragon!
This tale is a direct sequel from the time that DD and GL first met in STF #1528...
Wow! So many of the early reviews of The Defenders have been negative. I saw one that said it moved too slowly.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover! I'd like to see Hal Jordan, Matt Murdock and Ton Stark team-up one day. Maybe with Ben Grimm and Rocky from the Challengers - wasn't he a pilot? Iron Lantern was a fun Amalgam read.
Let me guess: they're after Ebenezar "the Scarecrow" Laughton...who's just become either a Black Lantern or a Yellow one.
ReplyDeleteIf they were it was last issue "Men without fear" in which Scarecrow took over NYC.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if GL got him a ring like the other blind lantern Rot Lop Fan who used a bell insignia rather than lantern insignia on his chest.
Aha! Matt becomes a Green Lantern, but is still Daredevil, so... Green Devil? Perhaps teaming up someday with Iron Beetle? ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun cover, Ross, and looks like it could be a unit piece. The story looks like it would be a real corker, in the old GL/GA tradition.
@GH: he could have escaped into outer space!
ReplyDeleteNo evil shall escape my sight?
ReplyDeleteIn brightest day, in the night's darkness.
No evil escapes my radar sense.
Good one, LK! :-D

No need. Matt had had sight before his accident, so he should still have been capable of mentally visualizing 'green'.
