The X-Files investigate The Spectre

In this age of Netflix and other streaming services, binge watching a TV series is commonplace.  I think The X-Files was the first show that I binge watched, and I did it the hard way.  I had missed the first few seasons, so to catch up, I would rent the earlier episodes from my video store and try to watch them in order.  The show may have outstayed its welcome a bit, but those first few years were a lot of fun.

  1. The show came on just when my wife and I got married. I remember being totally creeped out by the show Sunday nights! What a way to wind down the weekend!

    Great team-up!

(After Batman '66 wraps the Wonder Woman '77 team-up the Allreds are doing a Legion of Super-Heroes/Batman '66 team up in July. First, I wonder if this means the Legion is coming back?! Second, I'd love to see Batman '66 team up with other television series that had comics - like The Twilight Zone, or Mission: Impossible...)

  2. I enjoy your covers, and I look forward to seeing who is teamed up each day. I write a daily Facebook post about comic book characters and other odds and ends, such as movie reviews and information about my own books. The Facebook post name is also the title of my first book The Terror of the Talpidae. Ironically, today my post is about the Spectre as well. So, when I saw your cover, I thought the timing was cool, especially since I write the articles a couple weeks in advance. But keep up the good job with the covers.

  3. I was glad the series lasted till at least the Turn of the Millenium. Although, I was a tad disappointed with the six-part reboot when they pulled a DALLAS: TOS Season 11 with the explanation for the lack of alien invasion in 2012.*

*Just a seventy year-old smokescreen for a high-tech coup d'etat against the Federal government? Puh-lease!

  4. I have a feeling that Scully and Mulder might have to call in Carl Kolchak for help on this case.

Speaking of which, have you considered doing a cover with Sam and Dean Winchester of Supernatural fame?

  5. I have never seen a single episode so I of that show so I am not familiar with the characters.

  6. Ever thought of an X-Files/Buffy crossover?

  7. @AirDave: Or Get Smart!

@Emsley Wyatt: I once saw a cartoon panel that had Mulder and Scully talking to the Scooby gang. (No, not the ones from Buffy. The original Saturday morning cartoon Scooby gang.) Mulder, looking skeptical, asks Shaggy, "Now let me see if I've got this straight. You said that you know there's a ghost because your DOG told you he saw it?"

  8. Damn, another crossover I'd never have thought of. Maybe they also investigate the strange and unsolved death of Jim Corrigan, or he's assigned to work with them on a case? Either way, this encounter should REALLY push both agents into the realm of believing in the weird.

  9. I've often wondered why DC never had the Spectre go up against Nekron one-on-one.

  10. @Anonymous: That sounds like it would be fun! Maybe Ross could dramatize it as a turf war between Nekron and Lady Death...with the Spectre and Evil Ernie caught in the middle.*

    *Literally and figuratively!

They met during 'Blackest Night'. The Spectre discovered that as he can only "punish" beings who have souls, and Nekron doesn't have one, Nekron is immune to his powers.

  12. Souls are such troublesome things ...

Speaking of Things - The Thing (Ben Grimm) and Thing (from Adams Family).
