Deathstroke Vs. Captain America in: "Second Strike!"
The above cover is of course referring to the events of STF #381...
I am very curious as to the fate of Captain America in the Marvel cinematic universe. I think that the upcoming Avengers movies will complete Chris Evans contract in the role, and I have not heard anything about a fourth solo film. I am really hoping he is not killed off or replaced somehow as so often happens in the comics. Evans is still young enough to perform the role for years to come and the Captain America series has been the strongest of the Marvel franchises so far, in my opinion.
Coming tomorow: STF #1800!
Where are we at with the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Phase Five or Six? I believe an Iron Man IV is due, along with Thor IV and Captain America IV. Robert Downey, Jr. was waffling for a bit, but I think he said in an interview once that he'd be on board for a Four. I would hope Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans would be the same. Maybe start a Patreon or a Kickstarter to fund the salary expectation. I'm sure they'll want a bump up to keep going. It's not like the House of Mouse can't afford it. I'd really like to see The Invaders brought together. Maybe by a fourth Captain America film, that can happen...a fan can dream...
ReplyDeleteVery nice cover, Ross. I do hope that this becomes an ongoing thing. These two characters would be so evenly matched in so many ways that it would be quite a natural thing.
ReplyDeleteI, too, would love to see the current stars continue in their current Marvel roles, though I certainly do understand about the aging issue, especially when it comes to superheroes. Personally, for movies, I'd generally rather see new actors take over the character than generating a replacement character (the opposite of my stance in other media), but the studio's got to do what the studio's got to do.
It's part of why I say that comic-book superheroes work better on TV. There's so much in the source material that the lead actor will "age out" long before the creative team can run out of material. That can still happen on TV, but they can still get a lot in.
And I'm definitely looking forward to tomorrow's cover!
Excellent cover.
ReplyDeleteAt 51 Robert Downey, Jr. is starting to get too old for role but for one or two more movies he will be okay but at $50 million each Marvel needs to consider alternates. Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth are certainly young enough to continue and have not swelled in contract demands like Downey. Mark Ruffalo is older than the Chrises but his tole is less affected by age. Jeremy Renner is not much younger than Downey but appears a decade younger - I think it is his working out - but Hawkeye is more of physical role like Captain America and Thor. Scarlett Johansson is the youngest but frankly her appearance in movies is inconsistent so unable to determine how much longer she can continue in a aonther very physical role.
Not bad! Although, I was half-seriously hoping for either Banshee or Shamrock to team up with the original Jack O'Lantern of Global Guardians fame.
ReplyDeleteOh, well! Erin Go Bragh to your Irish lurkers, anyway. :-)
I forgot to re-order it, but there is a very green cover coming up soon.
