Rumors have it that at least one green Lantern will indeed be showing up at some point in the upcoming
Justice League movie. No solid casting for wither Hal Jordan or John Stewart has leaked, so there is no guarantee that the cameo (or however large the role) will feature either one of them. Perhaps we will just get an introduction to the Green Lantern corps concept, with an alien Lantern like Abin Sur arriving to warn of Darkseid, allowing one of the Earth GL's to be granted a ring in the
Justice League sequel.
Interesting pairing, Ross! I can just imagine Abin Sur getting parasitized by the Brood. Hence, enough loss of will power that he'd have to come to Earth in a spaceship.* Only to wind up crash-landing in Asgard, instead.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Justice League movie? I'm hoping it will feature Silver Age Guy Gardner. Frankly, I liked that version a lot better than the one who adopted (even if it was through no fault of his own) that literally intolerable Lobo-esque attitude he still sports to this day!
*I believe that was the motive behind the original Silver Age flashback, anyway. The need to explain why he didn't first arrive on Earth, flying under his own power.
I like this cover but I am wondering who time traveled Abin Sur or Beta Ray Bill?
ReplyDeleteVery cool team-up! As for a GL in JL, I'll take ANY of them (even G'nort!), but I really don't understand why DC hasn't made a bigger push for John Stewart in their media universes. As much as they've struggled with introducing ethnically diverse characters that people actually buy as being on the same level as DC's big guns, they've been sitting on an amazing African-American character that is actually THE Green Lantern to a generation of kids who grew up on JL cartoons. Put him onscreen, for Rao's sake!!
ReplyDeleteNice story !
ReplyDeleteWhy couldn't DC & Marvel have put stories out like this one instead of the cross over trash they did a couple of times !
I'd have purchased many of the team ups you've put on covers.
Interesting !
A very inspired pairing Ross. Both are very brave and honorable, and often take a back-seat to their more famous counterparts, but are no less-deserving of the spotlight. I'd really enjoy reading an official team-up story with these two.Maybe throw the 5 Inversions in there too maybe?
ReplyDeleteWow, is that really the first time you've used Abin Sur? He seems like he'd be a favorite of yours. Anyway, thanks for another great concept!
ReplyDeleteNot bad.
ReplyDeletemy favorite version of thor is thunderstrike
ReplyDeleteIt might be appropriate to team up Thunderstrike with Kyle Rayner, both being successors to classic heroes, and both coming out of the '90s.
ReplyDeleteHow about Gary Coleman and Webster ?
