My first encounter with Masters of the Universe was seeing He-Man showing up in
DC Comics Presents and being annoyed that an issue of one of my favorite comics seemed to be devoted to a toy advertisement. I never really got into the cartoons back then for that reason. I will say I did check out some of the more recent animated episodes and they were a lot of fun, I can see the appeal of the characters now.
Now see I was a huge He-man fan as a kid. Had a bunch of figures from that toyline, in addition to watching those classic 80's cartoons. Then I fell off as I got older. Saw the 90's incarnation and it looked horrible to me. Didn't know about DC temporarily having the He-man licence till years later. I see they tried again with a DC team up series with He-man, but nothing more came of it since then.
ReplyDeleteHow were you able to resist the title "Toy Story" for this issue?
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think that He-Man and Rom vs the Toyman would be a good match-up.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Eighties' version of HE-MAN & TMOTU because it was done by the same outfit who had first introduced me to Superman in 1966: Filmation. So for that reason, and the fact that I'd also love to see a clash of the Mattel and Hasbro universes, I would buy a real-life version of this intercompany crossover in the proverbial New Yawk minute!
ReplyDeleteNice!!!
ReplyDeleteHow about Penguin vs. the Kingsmen?
he-man meets tmnt???
