Martian Manhunter Vs. Loki

What a joy it was to see J'Onn J'Onzz and Superman in action side-by side on Supergirl.  I was like a moment right out of DC Comics Presents, and one I never thought I would see in live action.  With Mon El, Miss Martian and The Guardian about to make appearances this season looks to be a lot of fun.

This is only Part One of a Three-Part Epic!  Stay tuned for Part Two coming tomorrow!

This is not the first time that The Martian Manhunter has encountered Asgardians - He protected the Rainbow Bridge in STF #1289 and faced a deadly prophecy in STF #936...

  1. I look forward to seeing parts 2 and 3.

It wouldn't fit this story, but have you considered J'Onn J'Onzz from his Marco Xavier days meeting Dick Tracy? They seem a good match to me.

  2. That's exactly the sort of cover that makes me want to read the comic. Dr. Blake- helpless! Loki- triumphant! But help is on the way!

It's interesting to note that in the myths one of Loki's primary attributes was that he was a shape-shifter. This could be a fun battle.

  3. Wasn't Marco Xavier his Amalgamated Comics incarnation?

And, IIRC, Don Blake was once used as the name of a blind teenager in Silver Age Smallville.

  4. @Carycomic: 1) nope! That was the identity JJ briefly assumed to combat a Maggia-like crime syndicate called "VULTURE."

    2) Yep! But, it would seem that Odin magically cured that blindness after teleporting the kid to the Silver Age universe of Marvel Earth-616; placing him in medical school; and then infusing Thor's essence into his body.

  5. Marco Xavier meets Tony Stark? They're both wealthy international playboys, and they kind of look alike.

BTW, "Marco Xavier" was the name used in the Amalgam JL-X, both because it was a former identity of Manhunter's and it sounded similar to Charles Xavier.

  6. Hey! That's a thought! You've done several covers with the Danvers sisters, but what about Donald (Thor) Blake and Adam (Captain Comet) Blake?

  7. So I was half-right in my first guess? Thanks, BB! :-)

  8. P.S.---Ross could always go one step further and make "Atom" Blake the good captain's childhood nickname.

  9. Major major props on that smooth blending of the images of J'onn, Blake and Loki. It really does look like The Martian Manhunter is outside that window about phase thru.

  10. Dale Bagwell- The way I see the picture, they're on a rooftop and J'onn is approaching invisibly. I don't see a window.

  11. Alaric is correct, but if Dale likes the cover I am good with his interpretation!

  12. You're right @Alaric. No window upon a second look. I guess wishful thinking, because that effect would've been cooler. My bad, ha ha.
