Justice League of America and The Watcher

I was among the viewers that felt Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was too dark and dreary too much of the time, so I was pleased to read some reports from the set of Justice League.  It sounds like lessons have been learned and that the new members, especially Ezra Miller's Flash, will bring a  little bit of levity to the proceedings.  I know that Zack Snyder was going for a "darkest before the dawn" type vibe, which I can appreciate - I just wish it didn't take two full movies of darkness to get there!

  1. Not a two-parter? Who is from the MCU? Don't leave us hanging!

  3. @Ross: Considering that the movie combined the "Death of Superman" story arc with Frank Miller's now-classic graphic novel, I think the darkness of mood was basically inevitable.

@Martin: I'll say the transposed one is Black Canary. As a tribute to her Silver Age origin.

  4. I say it's the Flash...as the long-lost son of Robert "the Whizzer" fRanks and Madelyn "Miss America" Joyce.

P.S. How about a team-up between River Song, Clara Oswald, Ashildr the immortal Viking girl, and the 10th Doctor's clone "daughter" Jenny? You could call them...The Songbirds!

  5. While I enjoy the darker feel overall, it is a nice change of pace from the lighter MCU flicks, sometimes the film was pointlessly dark such as killing off Superman.

  6. Actually, decades ago, a JLAer was transplanted TO Earth 616, under the name Buried Alien :D

  7. @Blaine: The same thing could've been said about the comic book "death" of Superman back when Doomsday was first concocted by DC.

  8. Before Justice League we will have Suicide Squad and have you had Deadpool meet Harley Quinn (jester costume not the 52 version)

  9. @Mike Shirley: that ties in even better with Barry Allen being the long-lost true son of the Whizzer and Miss America!*

*At least in the universe of Earth-STF.

  10. It's gotta be Firestorm. Has there ever been another Justice Leaguer who acted more like a Marvel hero? (Yeah, I know he's not on this cover. He's standing behind Flash, okay?)

  11. Nah! Reed Richard already has him sewn up.

  12. See I read this is a Leaguer is stranded in the Marvel Universe, IE one of the Marvel characters was really a DC character all along, just in the wrong universe.

I vote for Carol Danvers, lost twin sister of Linda "Kara" Danvers.

  13. @Kid Kyoto: Only the Watcher clearly says it's one of the Leaguers! Meaning one of the characters on the cover, staring at him, in shock. And that's clearly Black Canary (NOT Supergirl) standing next to Green Arrow. The Silver Age Supergirl was still only a non-member ally of the JLA, back then!

  14. So, I go with either Black Canary or the Silver Age Flash. With most of my money on Barry Allen.
