Its funny some of the connections that can be made now that comic book movies are a full fledged genre of their own. I see that the '89
Batman, Michael Keaton is all but set to play the Vulture in the upcoming
Spider-Man: Homecoming. Not to be outdone, Spider-Man's antagonists from the first film are making the leap from Marvel to DC with JK Simmons going from J Jonah Jameson to Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe going from The Green Goblin to Vulko, both in
Justice League.
Swamp Thing first crossed paths with Spidey back in
STF #180
Hmmmm! I just can't picture Spidey making his home in the Big Easy. I mean; Swamp Thing's canonical adventures do take place in or near Houma, Louisiana; right? And New Orleans is the closest big city where an expatriate New Yorker like Peter Parker might feel at home. C'est vrai?
ReplyDeleteNot that far of a stretch: Spidey headed down to the Everglades or some place to track The Lizard and Dr. Connors. A little geography... ;)
ReplyDeletei think tom selleck would make a perfect commissioner gordon....give him grey hair...presto...instant commissioner gordon...lol
ReplyDeleteIf J. Jonah ever appears onscreen again while JK Simmons is still alive, he should be cast. He was BORN to play that part.
ReplyDeleteDavid White, of "Larry Tate" fame, is the only actor who was practically IDENTICAL to the Ditko illustrations of JJJ. It's most certainly one of the main reasons why the "Spdier-Man" pilot was successful enough to premier as a weekly prime-time series, on CBS, in 1977. Why CBS got rid of him (in favor of that bald guy who played the general in "Zanti Misfit") is still beyond me.
