There finally seems to be some confirmation that
Thor: Ragnarok will indeed be at least partially adapting the Planet Hulk storyline. This should be a lot of fun and a good way to introduce some other characters and alien races into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I hope we will see a Beta Ray Bill appearance as in the animated version. It'll be interesting to see Hulk's battle armor as well as if he gains any intelligence.
If that's the case, Ross, then I have even more reason than you to look forward to THOR: RAGNAROK. Because, it raises the possibility that Jarella could be incorporated into the Marvel Movie-verse as a member of the same race as Drax and Gamorra! None of the deus ex machina shrinkage that the Silver Age Bullpen had to annually revise, for the comic book visits to the micro-planet, Kai.
ReplyDeleteBut, speaking of the Hulk, I have to admit: I never would have thought of teaming these two. Adam Strange and the Kirby-era Fantastic Four, maybe. It would definitely make for a great visual to have Adam Strange flying side-by side with a flamed-on Johnny Storm! Like me, however, you seem to have an irresistible attraction to good puns. And this one (even though it sounds more like a college sorority house) is undeniably VERY good! An instant classic.
Btw: are those the clawed hands of the so-called "Missing Link?"
One of the things I love about this blog is that one day you'll have a team up that makes perfect sense like yesterday's Creeper/Nightcrawler pairing and the next day you have something completely out of left field like Adam Strange and The Hulk....
ReplyDeleteBack when I was a kid reading The Brave and the Bold I loved the off-the-wall team-ups the most. The first Batman/Kamandi team-up is still one of my favorites.
Interested to see how the Planet Hulk and Ragnarok elements collide, plus there's the interesting news today that Thor might be having a cameo appearance in GOTG2? And we have the Grandmaster played by Jeff Goldblum, who of course in the comics is the Collector's brother! I assume he'll be in the Red King's role in the movie. Seeing Beta Ray Bill would be awesome too.
ReplyDeleteThis pairing isn't so "left field" if one looks at the title. Granted, it's a Nu way of approaching things, and you Beta bunch I'd Kappa good evening with a story like this, and with a heavy Psi.
ReplyDeleteNow excuse me, I have to go Eta Pi.
PS: I, too, have been wondering about Beta Ray Bill, especially after the "lifting Thor's hammer" business in Age of Ultron. At least, I really hope we see Bill before Throg.
(Hey, what if BRB were recruited as a Green Lantern...?)
I'm astounded that no-one has added any more Greek letter puns, or mentioned Alpha Flight or Darkseid's omega force.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Great cover as usual. I'd never have thought of Adam Strange with the Hulk, but it works really well.

Remember Marvel's 'Omega the Unknown'?
