Firestorm Vs. The Green Goblin

I always saw Firestorm as filling in a void at DC when he was introduced.  Here was a teenage character with no ties to any previously existing hero with his own title.  He reminded me of Spider-Man in that way.  Given that and the Gerry Conway connection, I think that this would be a fun match up to see.

  1. I though I read an interview where Conway said that he created Firestorm in response to the growth and maturing of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. I didn't really notice Firestorm until JLA 179, and his revival. I followed the first 25 issues of The Fury of Firestorm - that was good stuff!

  2. I read Firestorm from his debut. I thought it was a cool concept to have a superhero who actually had two Secret Identities who were in fact two separate individuals, one young and the other middle-aged. The gradual development of Martin Stein was something I found especially fascinating, which may be surprising considering that, at the time, I was closer to Ronnie Raymond's age.

Oh, and this is a nice cover with a really, really interesting title.

  3. I had the great pleasure of meeting Conway (my favorite writer) at a convention a few years ago, and walked home happy with his autograph on a page in my signature album, my TPB of the '78 Firestorm series, and the 1982 first issue of Fury of Firestorm, among others.

  4. Interesting cover, but FIRESTORM would burn GREEN GOBLIN to a crisp.

  5. My namesake speaks the truth. The Silver Age Firestorm could've--and no doubt would've--transmuted the Goblin Glider into an easily-popped children's balloon, right off the bat!

Result: instant street-pizza a la Osborne.

  6. Well Ross, you had me at Firestorm...

With that said, the art mash-up here is perfect! Though replacing my beloved Slipknot with anyone is tough, I suppose Green Goblin will do! :)

Another exceptional cover! When I get time to start updating FIRESTORM FAN again, I'll be sure to post this!!

  7. What about the part that his pumpkins bomb has a flame-regarding gas, strong enough to blackout the human torch
