TNT has decided not to move forward with their
Titans series, and I think that might not be a bad thing. The more I heard about the show, the more it seemed to veer away from the classic Tenn Titans concept. Now there are rumors that the previously announced
Cyborg film will be morphing into a full fledged Teen Titans project. I am hoping those are true because the whole team is worthy of the big screen treatment.
I'd love it if they did the 80s Titans. Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Wonder Girl, Nightwing, Changeling (Beast Boy).

ReplyDeleteWhatever big budget film treatment they ultimately get, I hope it's as cool as your cover. And NOT the pre-school, pseudo-anime pap that's currently polluting Cartoon Network.
ReplyDeleteCan't be more boring than the upcoming League vs Titans movie.
ReplyDelete@ Simon Dyer: that's the first I've heard of it. Will it be based on the Silver Age TT story where they went to work for Mr. Jupiter after inadvertently causing the death of Arthur Swenson? Or, the ret-conned origin for the Teen Titans that came out in the 1990's (introducing abstract space entity, the Antithesis)?
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember an episode of the 2003-2006 TV series where the Teen Titans went to Japan. When they arrived, a Godzilla-type creature was rampaging in Tokyo, and the police chief or military officer said something into his walkie-talkie like, "Use maneuver number five." Then helicopters dropped a net on it and hauled it away. The implication being that giant monsters are so common in Japan that the authorities there have standard procedures for coping with them.
ReplyDelete"Teen Titans Go" looked more like the Powerpuff Girls than any previous version of the Titans.
I'm afraid that this battle would go much like the animated short "Bambi Meets Godzilla".
ReplyDelete@'fraid not. It's an upcoming animated straight to DVD movie set in the same universe as all their New 52 inspired JLA and Batman movies. The plot is semi-based on the 80's New Titans origin, with Raven bringing the team together to help fight her father. From the title it's also going to be a boring "Two teams in a misunderstanding followed by a team up" idea but these movies ape the New 52 so previous experience dictates it'll try to be mature by having everyone be a jerk to each other and only agreeing about how badass Batman is.
ReplyDeleteBut, he is! A total "Bat-ass," I mean.
ReplyDeleteFUN cover! I'll always appreciate any use of the early Bronze Age Teen Titans!
ReplyDeleteCould you work up any of the following:
--Batman & Spider-Woman (David Finch art)?
--Emma Frost & Batman?
--Donna Troy & The Thing?
--Doc Samson "Vs." Crazy Jane in therapy?
--The New Mutants vs. The New Teen Titans?
gggggggggggggg what if we can make godzilla vs King Kong vs Bambi THIS WILL BE GREAT.
ReplyDeleteI think we can all agree there is no way the teen titans are winning.
ReplyDeleteAlso if it did go like bambi meets godzilla... it'd be pretty funny watching them get squashed.
ReplyDeleteNow that I think of it they should make one where the young avenegers fight godzilla... nah it'll just be the same as this.
