The X-Men and Firestorm

I was hoping that with the re-set timeline and 1980's backdrop, the teammates in X-Men: Apocalypse would finally be donning their colorful costumes from the comics and cartoons.  Alas, from the footage and images I have seen so far, it looks like Bryan Singer is going back to the black leather look.  At least Firestorm is getting closer to his comic book uniform on the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow TV show.  They still need to add a headpiece to it, but it's an improvement on what we have seen so far.

  1. Personally, I think the blue-and-gold outfits are worthier of the comics than the movies.

  2. I could see Firestorm changing Wolverine's claws to spaghetti! BTW, thanks for updating this blog everyday. I used to have a blog, and I know it is a lot of work. Your work is appreciated.

  3. Thanks Ed, it can be tough constantly coming up with new material, and I am glad I have been able to keep it up so far.

  5. Well, if it's ideas for new material you are after, here are some ideas:

    * Tigra and Tigger
    * Marvin the Martian and the Martian Manhunter
    * Heroes with lightning bolts or jets instead of legs (Air Wave, Johnny Thunder's Thunderbolt, Astro Boy etc.). This would complement an earlier lost cover you did of heroes with lightning bolts on their costumes.

    What is your preferred method for cover suggestions? Or do you have enough? I don't know how you find the time to do this daily. An amazing effort!

  6. I try to find time to work on covers early in thr AM and late in thr PM. You can leave suggestions in the comments here, on the Facebook fan page or by tweeting, always interested in hearing new ideas. I get so many that I can't respond to each one, and the answer is almost always "maybe" anyway. It can be tough finding images that work for teaming straight superheroes with cartoon type characters, but those are some fun ones.

  8. Here's a suggestion . . . how about a group of villains such as Fu Manchu, Ras Al Ghul, Vandal Savage, Count Dracula etc. who call themselves "The Immortals"?

  9. I see your problem with the different styles of artwork. I was amazed recently to find out Mr. Mxyztplk was only a few years older than Superman as a character. I'm sure he would have fun bedevilling traditional superheroes from many universes/publishers!

  10. Seeing how Valentine's Day is coming up, how about a Batman/Stripperella relationshipper?
