The Legion of Super-Heroes and ROM

I am still scratching my head as to why there has never been a ROM revival.  I'm not sure who holds the rights these days, but I do know that the character is very fondly remembered and has a huge following.  Imagine how cool a live action ROM would look, or how fun it would be to blast Dire Wraiths in a ROM video game!  Much lesser properties have been brought back, bur ROM remains in limbo.  It seems like a huge missed opportunity to me.

  1. Here's a Wikipedia link:

Parker Brothers may still own the license from the three creators. Marvel does not have the comic book license any longer. IDW announced a comic book revival earlier this year...

  2. I also remember Rom fondly... and think that if the situation had arisen, although this was never actually tested in the comics, he would have proven just as worthy as Beta Ray Bill was to lift Thor's hammer...

What's the original for the LSH part of this picture?

  3. I agree with Simreeve. My fondest memory of Marvel adventures? The issue wherein he and a small squadron of fellow Spaceknights kicked the Shi'ar Imperial Guards' collective butt!

"My net was made to hold sorcerous Dire Wraiths. Your puny magicks will not affect it!"

  4. I heard a rumor they were trying to get the rights back for GOTG II. I hope so, I own a ROM #1 in mint condition.

  6. Like Cary Comic and Simreeve, I remember the Marvel version of ROM: SPACEKNIGHT with great fondness, as well. I'd love to see him in the next "Avengers" movie-sequel, helping them combat Thanos and the Dire Wraiths!

  8. Rom and the Micronauts will return from IDW in 2016. I loved the covers George Perez did for the Legion of Super Heroes I wish he had done a Rom cover also but he has only done a head shot at conventions.

  9. I'd just like someone to do something with the other characters featured on the cover.
