Deadpool was on my radar, but it took a while for me to become a fan. What did it for me was not a comic book appearance, but the Deadpool video game. It was a blast to play and made great use of the character's humor and tendency to break the fourth wall. I watched the teaser for the upcoming movie, and they seem to have struck the perfect tone for Deadpool - not to mention a costume that for once looks like it leapt right off the comics page.
I always felt that costume was just a plagiarism of Spidey's and Deathstroke's costumes.
ReplyDeleteThe costume (and character) was written to be something of a parody of Spider-Man, and in an early meeting between Spidey and Deadpool, the mercenary (who had been hired to distract, but not kill, the wall-crawler) admitted that he was a huge fan and that his costume was inspired by Spider-Man's. Of course, that meeting happened in a Spider-Man comic, so it may not hold true for Deadpool continuity.
ReplyDeleteDeadpool and spiderman where at the same hightschool
DeleteAnd you know, seeing them quote that movie, I can just imagine that if they ever did get together, that's EXACTLY what they'd say...
ReplyDeleteOh yeah… This pairing is popular for some reason.
