The New Teen Titans and The Avengers

This is a team up that I have been wanting to tackle forever, but never had anything come together to my satisfaction, so I am glad to finally be able to present it.  The New Teen Titans and The Avengers were both firing on all cylinders in the mid 80's and I would have loved to have seen a meeting between both teams featuring the line-ups from that era... with George Perez art, naturally!

  1. George Perez on The Avengers was amazing! I think I followed him fro The Avengers to Justice League of America and then to New Teen Titans. Off and on I think I stuck with The Avengers through Hank Pym's trial for the Egghead incident. As much as I like Walt Simonson, his art just did not fit with either X-Men or Teen Titans. The story was great, but not having George Perez or John Byrne art was a slight disappointment. It is even more disappointing that there are so few inter-company crossovers...

  2. George Perez was meant to do the X-Men and Teen Titans crossover but couldn't do it because of other commitment at the time I believe. Great cover!

  3. Personally, I think you would've delivered this masterpiece twenty years sooner than DC and Marvel did re: JLA VS. AVENGERS.

  5. To date my favorite cover you have done and with my favorite artist George Perez. I know in the past you have said you like the sizes you do for your pictures but this one really needs to be done as a wallpaper.

  6. George Perez is going to be at my local con, SC Comiccon in Greenville, South Carolina, next spring. I'm so excited! I'm hoping to get my copy of New Teen Titans #2, the first appearance of Deathstroke, signed. Have you ever done a cover with Deathstroke?

  8. It's nice to see a cover where they are not fighting each other, rather battling a common foe. Who could it be? Deathstroke and Taskmaster perhaps?

  9. @ Michael Jones: it looks more like a giant-size version of Doughboy! So, I would have to guess...Arnim Zola. Either with or without the Brotherhood/Masters of Evil.

  10. The creature is from the New Teen Titans preview that ran in DC Comics Presents and it is a blob creature from another universe brought across by Cyborg's father.

  11. @ Scott Cummins: Ah, yes! The genius whom DC ret-conned into an anti-football snob. And, whom 20th Century Fox plagiarized as the father of an African-American Johnny Storm.*
