Joe Queseda may be synonymous with Marvel Comics these days but I first took note of him in a mini series updating classic hero The Ray for modern readers. I liked his artistic style and made a point to check out his future work. I like the new version of the Ray too, and it's too bed he never became I bigger star. I even enjoyed his later membership in an updated Freedom Fighters and I hope we haven't seen the last of him.
Weren't these two merged in that Amalgam Comics event? It always seemed like an unusual pairing to me.
ReplyDeleteCool pairing!
ReplyDeleteOne of the few regrets I have is that I did not jump aboard the The Ray bandwagon. The Ray could have been Starman...
I like how you put an image of the Ray in the sights of the gun aiming at him. Nice touch!
ReplyDeleteThanks for noticing! It's the small details that help "sell" the covers sometimes, I find.
ReplyDeleteI'm more partial to the Golden Age Ray (from the Freedom Fighters of Earth-X), myself.

ReplyDeleteThey were--they got mixed together to make Apollo, a member of the JLX.
I thought I remembered something like that. Many thanks, Mr. Acer.
ReplyDelete@Mr. Acer: Apollo? You mean, the gay analog of Superman from the Wildstorm-verse?
