Black Lightning and Havok

I was glad to read recently of a conversation between Black Lightning creator Tony Isabella and executives at DC Comics regarding the treatment he and his character have gotten in the past and going forward.   It sounded like a first step, but hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things for Jefferson Pierce.  I'd love to see him finally break through to live action. it would be cool to see him show up on Arrow or even in the movies.

  1. Let's hope a live-action version would be called "Black Lightining." Because, if they (Time-Warner) went with "Black Vulcan," they'd have to cast Tim "Tuvok" Russ of STAR TREK: VOYAGER fame!

  2. I had heard of the problems, sad to happen to Tony and his great hero. I only read a few stories but liked the stories and direction of the series, and thought Trevor Von Eeden's art helped make it stand out among the newer characters coming out at the time. Good luck for Tony and hope to see BL on Green Arrow or other shows, live action seems the best format.
Interesting to see Sentinels and Kobra, they both always seemed a legitimate threat to any heroes around!

  5. I haven't actually read any issues of Black Lightning's own series, but am sort-of familiar with the character from his appearances back in the Outsiders' original line-up... and, more recently, from appearances in [the few issues that I've read] of his membership firstly in President Luthor's cabinet and then in the JLA...
Oh,and also from seeing the cover of one JLA first-series issue in which he rejected an offer of membership on the grounds that they were a bunch of "jive turkeys"...
    ^_^

One rather awkward feature about DC's handling of him was the way in which past continuity was contradicted by giving him two daughters... the younger of whom even has innate electrical powers, like him, although thanks to 'comic book time' she would actually have to have been born years before he even started using a gadget to produce the power let alone before he somehow internalised that ability.

  6. I can't really comment on anything other than how much I love this cover. On the other stuff, I am guardedly optimistic.
