I liked Namor's blue outfit that he wore for a time in the 70's. Versions of it still surface from time to time, so I know that it must have struck a chord with some of the creators who have worked on the Sub-Mariner over the years. If a live action movie ever gets made I can't imagine they will have a guy in a speedo the whole time, so this look might make for a suitable alternate costume.
Ummm, I think a good majority of the time in a Sub-Mariner movie, Namor will probably be in the speedo. To draw in more movie-goers. I like the jet-black look, though, that is pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI think I liked Namor more as the arrogant Invader than the surface-hating anti-social rogue he was in the '60's...
Let's face it, Ross: you'd get mad, too, if you had to spend all day on a movie set wearing a glorified bikini bottom that might not be too form-flattering.*
ReplyDelete*I know it was just a misprint of "made." But, it was too good an opportunity to resist. ;-D
I see you ret-conned the misprint. Two thumbs up! :-)
ReplyDeleteFitting pair for today. In the New Amalgam Comics project I've mentioned, Shark was mixed with Namor foe Orka in order to make Predator, a foe of the Aquariner (Aquaman/Namor) and the Green Giant (Hal Jordan/ the Hulk), and a member of the Offending Society (Injustice Society/the Offenders), the opposite number of the Defending Society (Justice Society/Defenders).
ReplyDeleteI liked that costume too. In fact I used a version of it for one of my own Champions characters, 'the Triphibian', in the early '80s.
