Batman and The Hulk (The Movie!)
With new comic book related TV shows and movies being announced on a regular basis these days, it's easy to take for granted the times we live in. Back in the day, there weren't a lot of choices for the live action superhero fan. Batman and The Incredible Hulk each had their strengths and weaknesses. The Incredible Hulk took the subject matter seriously, but didn't feature much from the comics beyond the main character. Batman happily presented many characters and visuals from the comics, but presented the whole thing with tongue firmly planted in cheek. I'd have liked a show that met in the middle somewhere.
Batman and The Hulk have crossed paths a few times in The Lost Issues:
They first met in my first attempt at a 100-Page Giant...
I later presented them in a Golden-Age team-up...
They met during The Hulk's gray phase...
And the last time they butted heads was in my 900th Issue.
Could we have some more of these movie team-ups, please, Ross?
ReplyDeleteThey are tougher to make, but I do have some ideas, so there's a good chance you will see more of them in the future.
ReplyDeleteI remember lots of comic book shows and movies during the 70s and 80s. Shazam and Isis were on saturday mornings along with Superfriends, Spider-man and his friends, Wonder Woman starring Lynda Carter a short lived Spider-man live action tv show, tv movies of Captain America, Superman starring Chris Reeve and its sequels, a Disney movie called Condorman, Greatest American Hero, I'm sure there are more.
ReplyDeleteCOVER OF THE MONTH!
ReplyDeleteAnd, let us not neglect the suitably eerie (for its time) CBS pilot movie version of DR. STRANGE. Starring Peter Hooten in the title role...and the late, great Sir John Mills as Thomas "the Ancient One" Lindmer.*
ReplyDelete*The latter would have been great in the title role of a Green Lama film serial, during the Forties.
For The Win!
ReplyDeleteThe two minions laid out in front look like they came out of a Star Trek (TOS) show which makes sense because they were filled during same period.
ReplyDeleteRIP, A.W.
