Continued from yesterday's cover, today's entry should provide a clue as to what exactly is going on in this saga.
It's amazing that the 60's
Batman TV series is just now being released on DVD and Blu-Ray. I have been enjoying watching some of the episodes on a local classic TV station. It's crazy how good Batgirl looks on the series. Batman and Robin are a bit campy looking, fitting for the show - but Batgirl looks like she stepped right out of the comics. Then you have her Bat-Cycle, which is just an awesome design. They really had her look down!
Ha!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cover! Loved yesterday's, too!
I would think that since they were trying to base Batman and Robin on the comics - in costume and character - the look would be a little "off" expectation.
Batgirl wasn't based on Kathy or Betty Kane. She was a completely original character, so her look, was all Yvonne Craig!!!
Batgirl was actually co-created for the TV show and the comics at the same time. Read this.
ReplyDeleteThe reason that the show took so long to get to DVD is because of conflicts between Warner (who owns the characters) and Fox (who owns the actual episodes). Apparently they've finally reached an agreement that profits both of them.
I agree with you about Yvonne Craig's look on Season 3 of the original series. I even loved the fact that she diverted suspicion from her really being Barbara Gordon by having red extensions apparently sewn on to the back of her cowl! That's how the Alicia Silverstone version of Batgirl should have done it for BATMAN AND ROBIN.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking there was a Batgirl series pilot, but a quick search found only an iMDB reference to an 8-minute short.

This is a classic!
ReplyDeleteAlways cool to see Robin and Batgirl!
I haven't been able to see STF covers on my Android phone for the past two weeks, but the site works fine on my Windows devices. Did something change?
ReplyDeleteNot on my end.
ReplyDeleteI met Yvonne Craig at SDCC in the early 90s. She llikes my eyes! (She spent about 30 seconds gazing into them. Sadly, that's the high point of my life.)
ReplyDeleteRobin and Batgirl sure look familiar there. I must have had that comic back in the early 70s.
That was an issue of 'Batman Family' drawn by Mike Grell. I had it too.
Delete@Bob Buethe: Recently Comcast altered the security package that they offer to subscribers. Since then, I haven't been able to access Google Chrome and won't be able to until I download the new Norton Toolbar-- which is available in the Chrome Web Store I can't access. Without Chrome, it takes about three minutes to download a page of STF. When you have free time, try to get STF on your Android and let the device just sit there for ten minutes.
ReplyDeleteHere's a small idea: the Atom, The Ant-Man and the Micronauts
