One of the most frustrating things about the rights to Namor, Captain America and the Human Torch belonging to different film studios is that it eliminates the chances for The Invaders to appear on the big screen. I got a kick out of the Howling Comandos appearance in Cap's first movie, but the tease of briefly seeing a Torch android during the World's Fair scene really made me want to see the classic WWII team in action.
I just can't see The Invaders or the JSA outside of a WWII or Golden-Age setting. It's pushing it to read their 1970's adventures. I tried reading Earth-2 and The All-New Invaders, but taking them out of that classic setting just doesn't work for me. I'd love it if there were an animated series for the teams...
ReplyDeleteGreat cover! And I have thought for a few years now that the Invaders would be a good movie idea for Marvel to try. A cartoon could work. Marvel has about a hundred characters that they use for the WWII time period. In fact there had been a awesome fan fiction series by Jess Nevins called 'The Liberators' that had all of the United States heroes of the 1940's brought together to fight the Nazis and their own super powered soldiers.

A real-life comic book, with this cover, would probably have a story line wherein the Apokoliptan known as Kanto was aiding the Nazi scientist code-named "Brain Drain" (one of the Invaders' first war-time enemies).
