These two have more than a little in common with each other, so I think that a match-up between them could be pretty cool. I checked out some Mightor episodes and wow did it bring me back! Early Saturday mornings watching
Hanna-Barberra's world of Super Adventure with a big bowl of cereal? Those were the days!
I also love to watch old 70s and 80s cartoons while eating a big bowl of cereal just like when we were kids. Everybody sound off with your favorite brand of cereal to enjoy as a kid. I loved Cookie Crisp.
ReplyDeleteHoneycombs!
DeleteSpeaking of comics and Saturday morning cartoons, back in the 90's, right before DVD's were in general release, there was a multimedia project simply called "Saturday Morning". It involved contemporary bands, mostly ones with punk and/or indie roots who had since signed to majors, recording new versions of cartoon theme songs. The resulting CD is still in circulation. In some cases, like the Ramones' "Spider-man", a song will show up on the artist's own albums as well.
ReplyDeleteA little harder to find are the Marvel comic book tie-in and the full-length VHS video featuring Drew Barrymore(!) and a bunch of her friends in their pajamas, with "big bowls of cereal", crowded on a couch watching the music videos for the songs in a framing sequence that alternates with the videos.
My own creation of a mixed bowl of Rice Krispies, Sugar Corn Pops, plain Corn Flakes and Chocolate Frosted Flakes/or Chocolate Frosted Cheerios! Oh yeah!! Pretty much everything in that cupboard was going in the bowl!!
ReplyDeleteStill waiting on The Incredibles / the Impossibles (of Frankenstein Jr. and The Impossibles) teamup.
ReplyDeleteCrossover stories between ancient caveman against the Nordic warrior prince son of Odin the imperator of Asgard battle of legends Mightor vs Thor.
DeleteFrankenberry!
ReplyDeleteThey used to put little toys in there too!
ahhh yes, Saturday mornings during the 1970s...
ReplyDeleteenjoying a bowl of either Quisp, Cap'n Crunch, Freakies, Frankenberry, Frute Brute, Baron Redberry, Sir Grapefellow, or Kellogg's Pop Tarts, while watching shows like Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Challenge Of The Superfriends, Shazam And Isis, The Land Of The Lost, Valley Of The Dinosaurs, or The Godzilla Power Hour!
Then it was off to the candy store to get between 3 and 5 comic-books for a buck! (Especially The Brave And The Bold, The Batman Family, and of course, the Justice League Of America!)
...those were the days!
YES! Thank you, Ross. I can remember watching this every "Funtastic Saturday," back in 1967-68. But, sadly, just like Space Ghost and Birdman, he got dummed down for Cartoon Network's late-night time slot during the Eighties.
ReplyDeleteThe next time they update him, I hope it's something more fitting. Like, say, Jedi Master M'tor of Onderon?
Two legendary heroes Mightor prehistoric warrior from the Stone Age versus son of Nordic god/king Odin thunder prince of the heavenly host two heroes will collide between two worlds Mightor versus Thor:battle of legendary superheroes battle of the ages.... Who will win who decide... Thanks! From:Wayne
ReplyDeleteMightor is everything I always wished Thor was. Marvel should have had Thor use his strength and hammer like Mightor uses his strength and club. Mightor performed Superman like feats and could fly without his club. Whereas, Marvel had Thor do everything with his hammer, which led many to believe Thor was nothing without his hammer. Even though, early on Thor was created to be Marvel's answer to Suoerman and was intended to be Marvel's strongest hero. Thor early on was a match for the Hulk in strength. Even back then, Thor did not perform feats of strength like Mightor. Mightor is a combination of Thor and Superman.
ReplyDeleteSugar Smacks...with Quickdraw McGraw on the front of the box!
ReplyDeleteCaptain Crunch was my favorite breakfast cereal, along with a glass of Carnation Instant Breakfast! But my mother wouldn't usually buy those, so more often it was just a bowl of Raisin Bran while watching the Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour.
ReplyDeleteAll I got to say is wow Ilove it all
ReplyDeleteNow, if only Mightor would visit the Savage Land.
