I featured these two as a text-only team in one of my early anniversary issues, and the idea has rattled around in my brain ever since. I figure that these two pioneers of the art form deserved a cover all their own. Without them, who knows where comics would be today?
Now THAT'S different! Very cool!!
ReplyDeleteHey, a couple of months ago you gave us the full cover from another one of the 'back-up stories' from that same anniversary issue (#500), namely the Green Arrow/Green Hornet. Does this mean that more of these bonus stories are going to show up in their own right? The Devil Dinosaur/Hawkman cover ought to be really killer.
ReplyDeleteWell that DD/Hawkman story did have a picture with it, even if it was a tiny one. You never know though - I'm still trying to figure out a way to do Alfred Pennyworth, Agent of Shield!
ReplyDeleteBefore Siegel and Shuster came: the Stone Age of comics!
ReplyDeleteWhat? No Nemo?
ReplyDeleteThat was really fun. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteI would SO buy this!!!
ReplyDelete@Bygrinstow: Ross might be having trouble finding Nemo.
ReplyDelete:lol:
Seriously, though; this is a great depiction. Especially, since I have fond (if vague) memories of some Krazy Kat cartoons during the early 1960's!*
*They were part of a King Features syndicated TV package--along with the animated misadventures of Beetle Bailey--broadcast on a local children's show called "Mr. Goober."
This is the first cover I have no idea who either of them are but after reading excellent work, looks a funny read if it was ever made!
ReplyDeleteVery hip, Krazy and the Kid go together well. How about Nemo in Slumberland and Koko the Clown?
ReplyDelete@Ken: I'd prefer to see Koko the Clown and Nemo the Clownfish!
ReplyDeleteOr, failing that, Catwoman vs. Krazy Kat (for the affections of Ignatz the Rat).
